Hector
Hector is a High-Ranker of the Rowan Tribe and the father of Xander. He repeatedly represents the Six Kingdoms outside the Domain of the Fallen, combining protective loyalty to the young expedition members with restraint meant to prevent political disputes from becoming Ranker bloodbaths.
Biography
The Lionheart Tournament and the Hidden Domain
Hector comes to the Sacred Dungeon to ensure Xander returns safely and becomes the most forceful voice for patience when the Skystead Alliance accuses the Six Kingdoms of sabotage. He uses a Lion’s Roar to silence the escalating crowd, argues that the unprecedented merged instance must be investigated, and prevents armed Rankers from turning a dungeon dispute into open war. The later announcement proves Lux’s group entered a different Gate, vindicating his reasoning. When the young fighters emerge, Hector praises Xander and Cai while listening to their embellished account, fulfilling both his paternal motive and his broader role as a stabilizing representative. (Chapters 320, 323, 325–326)
The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss
During the Gate of Famine attempt, Hector publicly bets fifty million gold coins that every young challenger will survive, countering the rival Rankers’ morbid wagers and expressing trust in Lux. He wins almost immediately when Lux defeats the opening Argonaut threat, then watches the Half-Elf reveal still greater summons. That association also carries risk: when Lux attacks the apparently possessed Dragon Prince, Piccoro directs several Saints’ pressure at Hector, forcing him to his knees and causing internal injury even though he truthfully knows nothing. Hector survives and is later assigned with the Rowan Tribe’s elite Rankers to accompany Cai into the Gate of the Apocalypse, continuing his protective duty despite the punishment attached to being seen as Lux’s ally. (Chapters 685–686, 694, 708, 802)
Appearance and personality
The corpus emphasizes Hector’s High-Ranker presence and Rowan affiliation rather than giving a detailed face, age, or clothing description. He is protective toward Xander and Cai, confident enough to confront hostile delegations, and controlled enough to avoid a fight he might personally survive but that would kill many others. His large wager shows loyalty and nerve, while his endurance under Saint pressure shows resolve without implying that he can match their rank. (Chapters 320, 323, 685, 708)
Abilities and skills
Hector is a High-Ranker whose named demonstrated technique is Lion’s Roar. By projecting his voice with overwhelming force, he drowns out an armed crowd and compels both delegations to hear his argument; the scene presents it as area control and intimidation rather than a damaging finishing move. No weapon, element, or additional combat skill is named. His limitations are explicit when several Saints release pressure toward him: he cannot resist, is forced to kneel, and suffers bleeding and internal injury. His later selection as one of the elite warriors guarding Cai confirms continued operational fitness but not a formal advancement beyond High-Ranker. (Chapters 323, 708, 802)

- Piccoro — The Saint who holds the wager and later injures Hector while demanding an explanation for Lux’s assault on Aur. (Chapters 686, 708)
