Gilbert

Gilbert is a senior figure from Wildgarde Stronghold who watches Lux's rise, consults with its other Guardians, and helps organize the Storm Dragon faction's Sacred Dungeon plans. The tournament text also uses “Gilbert” once for the blond swordsman otherwise called Gilmore; that isolated naming inconsistency is not used to transfer Gilmore's techniques to the Guardian.

Biography

The Lionheart Tournament and the Hidden Domain

During the Lionheart Tournament, Gilbert watches Lux reveal strength far beyond the sickly youth Wildgarde remembered. He joins Rainer and Natasha in questioning Vera, accepts her limited explanation rather than forcing the matter, and evaluates Lux's summons as comparable to a dungeon-raiding team. That response moves from confusion to strategic respect, while his consultations keep the Stronghold's interests aligned rather than turning Lux's success into a confrontation (Chapters 255, 257, 262, 270).

Gilbert later seeks Lux's temporary participation in Storm Dragon's Sacred Dungeon expedition, particularly because the Purple Plague threatens the Six Kingdoms and Gilbert's older sister is the Saint's wife among the Rowan Tribe. Lux refuses to work directly under Nero but joins the allied Rowan expedition, leaving their objectives compatible. Gilbert's role is therefore recruitment and coordination: he recognizes Lux's value and pursues shared results without making loyalty to Storm Dragon an absolute condition (Chapter 272).

Appearance and personality

No reliable physical description is attached to the Wildgarde Guardian. He is cautious, pragmatic, and willing to revise an old judgment: Lux's tournament performance visibly unsettles him, yet he does not respond with hostility. The blond swordsman description and Azure Sky style in Chapter 243 belong to the combatant called Gilmore elsewhere in the same scene, so they are not treated as Gilbert's appearance or temperament (Chapters 243, 255, 262).

Leadership and strategic abilities

Gilbert demonstrates organizational authority within Wildgarde and Storm Dragon: he helps evaluate dangerous young combatants, directs Nero to seek the Purple Plague's cure, and participates in negotiations over expedition membership. The corpus does not show the Guardian fighting or name a personal technique. Consequently, Gilmore's Azure Sky Sword Style and soul-disrupting strike are excluded; Gilbert's demonstrated abilities are judgment, recruitment, and faction coordination, with outcomes dependent on the combatants he assigns (Chapters 255, 262, 272).

Relationships

  • Rainer and Natasha: Fellow Wildgarde authorities with whom Gilbert evaluates Lux and consults Vera (Chapters 255, 270).
  • Vera: A trusted source whose guarded explanation of Lux's recovery Gilbert accepts (Chapter 257).
  • Nero: A Storm Dragon combatant whom Gilbert tasks with seeking the Purple Plague cure (Chapter 272).
  • Lux: A former underestimated youth whom Gilbert comes to view as a strategically valuable dungeon combatant (Chapters 262, 272).
