Natasha
Natasha is Wildgarde Stronghold’s strongest Cleric, one of its High Elders, and a longtime friend of Vera. She monitors Lux’s damaged soul from childhood, supports him as family, and later helps Wildgarde respond to threats involving Abyssal corruption.
Biography
Awakening and Leaf Village
Natasha examines the unconscious young Lux and distinguishes a healthy body from a damaged soul. She warns Vera that stress or strong emotion may trigger future collapses, admits that her strongest treatment and an elixir have failed, and recommends regular monitoring rather than false reassurance. Years later Lux calls her Grandma Natasha: she has treated his repeated fainting throughout childhood, gently supports him against Nero’s belittling, and tells him that strength is not everything even while recognizing the importance Wildgarde places upon it. (Chapters 64, 174)
During the Lionheart Tournament, Natasha fails to recognize Lux’s disguise but reacts as both healer and elder when his identity is exposed. She later joins Gerald and Rainer in the secret meeting over Heaven’s Gate, initially resenting Alexander’s coercive contract before signing once her colleagues do. Learning the size of Lux’s secret turns indignation into fear for his safety, and she commits to confidentiality and institutional cooperation rather than treating him as the frail child she once managed. (Chapters 253, 255, 363–365)
The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss
When rejuvenated Vera appears inside Wildgarde’s keep, Natasha senses a familiar aura but treats the beautiful silver-haired intruder as a possible threat until Lux confirms her identity. Her simultaneous exclamation with Rainer captures both personal astonishment and professional caution: the woman before her looks decades younger than the old friend she remembers. This latest appearance leaves Natasha still serving as a Guardian whose affection does not override emergency procedure. (Chapter 794)
Appearance and personality
Natasha is an old woman whom Lux addresses as a grandmother and whose role is described interchangeably as High-Cleric, healer, and nurse. She is warm enough to pat Eiko, pinch Lux’s cheek, and encourage him after Nero’s taunts, but she also frowns at unexplained magic and takes institutional secrecy seriously. Her medical honesty is a defining trait: she tells Vera directly when soul damage exceeds her abilities and never presents partial improvement as a cure. (Chapters 64, 174, 253, 363–365)
Clerical healing and diagnostic abilities
Natasha casts diagnostic magic that separates physical injury, spiritual damage, and Abyssal contamination. She identifies Lux’s damaged soul and predicts emotional or strenuous triggers, later examines Nero with Rainer, finds no surviving Abyssal trace, and administers healing for his serious injuries. As Wildgarde’s strongest Cleric, she can stabilize and monitor patients over long periods, but she cannot repair Lux’s soul even after using her powers and a strong elixir; the failure establishes a clear boundary between bodily healing and deeper spiritual restoration. (Chapters 64, 253, 506)
Her diagnostic work is collaborative rather than omniscient. She needs repeated checks, initially mistakes Lux’s tournament disguise, and can only recognize the familiarity of Vera’s restored aura rather than identify her new appearance outright. No offensive spell set or later rank advancement is recorded. At her latest state she remains Wildgarde’s senior medical authority, most effective when she has access to a patient, time to examine them, and other Guardians to secure the surroundings. (Chapters 253, 255, 506, 794)
Relationships
- Lux: Natasha treats Lux from infancy, becomes one of the elders who raises him, and later protects his guild secret after recognizing the adult responsibilities he carries. (Chapters 64, 174, 255, 363–365)
- Vera: Vera is her close friend and repeatedly entrusts Lux’s care to her. Natasha’s inability to recognize Vera’s rejuvenated form does not diminish their long history. (Chapters 64, 174, 794)
- Gerald and Rainer: The three share Wildgarde’s high-level decisions, patrols, and emergency response, with Natasha providing the clerical and ethical perspective. (Chapters 253, 359, 363–365, 794)
- Nero: Although Natasha favors Lux in their rivalry, she heals and diagnoses Nero without hesitation after his Abyssal crisis. (Chapters 174, 506)
