Adonis

Adonis is a powerful Satyr reanimated by Hereswith and later assigned to protect Gaap. His theatrical vanity and casual taunting conceal practiced teamwork, deep loyalty, and enduring affection for his son Ampelos.

Biography

The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss

Adonis joins four comrades against Sion, treating the Saint’s armor as a difficult sparring target while coordinated attacks keep him off balance. His jokes stop when Juggernaut Onslaught becomes lethal; Hana saves Adonis from the redirected charge, and he helps the group invoke Azure Flames to lift Sion’s miniature sun away from El Hazard. Later in the Abyss, Adonis rescues Ampelos from Queen Rhiannon and reveals that he died after leaving for the Great War before Hereswith reanimated him. The reunion restores a family bond severed for more than a century, while placing father and son inside a renewed conflict with the Demigod whom Adonis once antagonized. (Chapters 858–860, 884–885)

The Divine Army reckoning

At Gaap’s deathbed, Adonis kneels with Naberius and Tharin and thanks the Halfling for spending his limited life avenging Hereswith. Gaap in turn acknowledges the help they gave him while he was weak, then frees the old summons from their contracts and orders them back to their original master. Adonis is not destroyed by that release and does not become newly resurrected; he was already an animated dead servant. His latest supported state is continued undead existence after completing temporary service to Hereswith’s disciple, with no later chapter documenting another death or independent reassignment. Appearance and personality

Adonis is a male Satyr, though the corpus gives no detailed description of his hair, horns, clothing, or build. He is vain enough to comb his hair in a hand mirror during battle, flamboyant, teasing, and dismissive of weaker opposition. When danger becomes real, however, he drops the performance, follows Hana’s analysis, and coordinates seriously. His nostalgic greeting and gentle head pat for Ampelos show genuine paternal warmth beneath the swagger. (Chapters 858–860, 884–885)

Abilities and skills

Adonis is one of Gaap’s Empyrean-Ranked World Bosses and a close-range fighter whose kick can sting Sion through his hardened metallic coating. His most explicit large-scale technique is collective: chanting with Tharin, Mia, and Naberius summons Azure Flames that lift Sion’s enormous fireball into the sky. Because four casters invoke it together, the full output cannot be assigned to Adonis alone. He also moves quickly enough to save Ampelos from Queen Rhiannon’s attack, but the scene does not name a teleport skill or measure its range. Sion’s strongest charge can catch him by surprise, and he survives only because Hana intervenes, establishing a clear limit against Saint-level finishing moves. (Chapters 858–860, 884)
