Skia's Boots

Skia's Boots is the Holy Item of Skia, Alphen's god of Adventurers. A pair looted by Kang Woojin is an essential ingredient for Thrash's March, while a later pair worn by Tauric marks him as Skia's First Monk and lets him run without exhaustion.

History and role

Loot from Liah's storage

Woojin first finds a pair among the items in Liah's Dimensional Storage Room after winning a Duel and choosing to loot it. He recognizes the footwear as both a useful item and an Alphen-only ingredient essential to forging Thrash's March. Its rarity changes how he values Dimensional victories: he later hopes that looting another storage room might yield a comparable treasure, although that later attempt produces only mediocre items. (Chapters 61 and 72)

Woojin still says that he possesses Skia's treasure when Tauric asks about it on Alphen. Thrash's March subsequently appears among the three completed pieces of Thrash's Set. Because the recipe identifies Skia's Boots as essential but the forging scene is not narrated, the earlier pair's consumption in March is a strong implication rather than a directly shown transformation. The twenty-first pair

The name also applies to a newly created Holy Item rather than only to Woojin's earlier pair. Tauric recalls Woojin pulling the previous Holy Item from his feet in the past, then identifies the boots he currently wears as the twenty-first pair, made after that theft. This newer pair is both functional equipment and the symbol proving his office as First Monk of Skia. Its existence shows that the divine office can receive a replacement instance even when a prior pair remains elsewhere. (Chapter 78)

Abilities and properties

• Endless running: Tauric's active pair allows its wearer to run without becoming exhausted. The corpus does not define its maximum speed, whether it prevents other forms of fatigue, or whether all historical pairs have identical strength. (Chapter 78)
• Religious authority: The current boots certify Tauric as Skia's First Monk. Losing a pair therefore affects more than equipment custody, although the source does not quantify the office's powers. (Chapter 78)
• Renewable Holy Item: A new pair is made when a new high priest appears; Tauric's boots are numbered as the twenty-first instance. The creation process and what happens to an existing pair when succession occurs are not explained. (Chapter 78)
• Crafting ingredient: Woojin's earlier pair is required for Thrash's March, whose later abilities belong to the transformed Thrash item rather than to Skia's Boots themselves. (Chapters 61 and 88)
