Dragon's Heart

The Dragon's Heart is a body-sized red magical core recovered by Kang Woojin from Rashmode's laboratory. After remaining in Woojin's Inventory as a rare treasure, it is completely consumed as fuel for Hong Sunggoo's attempt to survive a Dragon's curse and be reborn in a stronger form.

History and role

Rashmode's abandoned catalyst

After defeating Rashmode, Woojin searches the laboratory and finds the Heart on an altar beyond a door radiating magical energy. Its energy dwarfs that of ordinary Bloodstones, and touching it transfers it into his possession. The surrounding monster parts suggest that Rashmode intended it for a great Chimera, though the planned creature and exact procedure are never completed or explained. Woojin briefly jokes that he might use the find to make a companion for Ryongryong, but the corpus does not show him carrying out that idea. (Chapter 41)

Woojin stores the Heart in his Inventory and treats it as something whose loss would cause serious regret. When considering how Dimensional Battle can randomly forfeit possessions, he specifically resolves to remove rare items beforehand. This period establishes secure possession, not active use or a transfer to Ryongryong. (Chapter 57)

Fuel for Sunggoo's rebirth

Woojin finally uses the Heart after Hong Sunggoo's body is destroyed by Dragon's Breath and his soul is left struggling against a Dragon's curse. Rather than taking the safer offer of revival as a Lich, Sunggoo chooses to fight for a living future. Woojin places the Heart on his soul, where it feeds a solitary white flame while Woojin controls the surrounding evil spirits. Over more than ten days the Heart disintegrates toward ash, and by the end of Woojin's vigil it is gone, leaving only a small red-and-white flame. (Chapter 84)

Sunggoo subsequently digests the Heart completely but delays awakening in order to emerge stronger and more fully formed. The text therefore presents the Heart as both fuel and an internalized regenerative catalyst, while leaving the precise biological mechanism and the limits of the resulting transformation unstated. (Chapter 87)

Abilities and properties

  • Exceptional magical energy: The red core emits far more magical energy than the Bloodstones Woojin compares it against. (Chapter 41)
  • Creation potential: Rashmode's laboratory indicates that a Dragon's Heart can serve as a component in making a powerful Chimera, but that proposed use is not demonstrated. (Chapter 41)
  • Soul-bound regeneration: Placed on Sunggoo's soul, the Heart sustains the white flame through which he resists a Dragon's curse and prepares a stronger rebirth. The process takes weeks rather than acting instantly. (Chapters 84 and 87)
  • Consumable nature: The Heart gradually melts into ash and is ultimately described as fully digested, so it does not remain a recoverable item after treatment. (Chapters 84 and 87)
