Park Sahngoh

Park Sahngoh is the president of Hammer Guild and one of Korea's representative A-rank Awakened. His relationship with Alandal develops from an attempt to recruit Kang Woojin through Jung Minchan into practical cooperation during the monster crisis, while his decisions remain strongly shaped by Hammer Guild's institutional advantage. (Chapters 21–24 and 48–76)

Biography

Hammer Guild's changing place in Seoul

Sahngoh initially evaluates Kang Woojin as a possible investment rather than accepting Jung Minchan's intuition alone. He grants Minchan negotiating discretion but demands tangible proof before offering a vice presidency, then reverses course enthusiastically when Woojin's feats make his potential undeniable. Expecting Minchan to deliver the recruit, Sahngoh promotes him and stages a celebration; when Minchan reveals that Woojin will form an independent guild and resigns, Sahngoh's attempt to secure the talent collapses into public anger and the loss of his support-team leader. (Chapters 21 and 23–24)

During the Seoul Break, Sahngoh puts rivalry aside long enough to shelter civilians and lead Hammer's Awakened against a wolf pack. His Wind magic breaks the monsters' formation while he focuses on the giant alpha, but he withdraws when the situation escalates beyond the initial defense. He later hosts Woojin and Alandal's officers, suppresses his irritation at Woojin's informality, and listens to the explanation of Trahnet. Recognizing that Hammer cannot be Korea's foremost guild, Sahngoh proposes using an upcoming guild assembly for Woojin's mobilization and deliberately shifts his ambition toward a profitable second-place role. (Chapters 48–51)

That promise makes Sahngoh responsible for preparing the international assembly, a task complicated by requests, threats, venue security, and disputes among excluded guilds. The work leaves him visibly exhausted, and he readily hands management to KH Guild when it demands control, sacrificing his sunk effort to escape the burden. By Chapter 76 he still watches Minchan's judgments closely, suggesting that the former subordinate's eye for talent remains useful to him even after their professional separation. (Chapter 76)

Appearance and personality

Sahngoh is thirty-five when introduced. By the assembly preparations he has dark circles, dull skin, and appears to have aged from stress. He is analytical about recruitment and capable of containing his temper when survival or negotiation requires it, but he is also proud, status-conscious, and explosive when plans fail. His opportunism is candid: once first place becomes unrealistic, he quickly looks for influence and profit in cooperation rather than clinging to a lost contest. (Chapters 21, 24, 51, and 76)

Abilities and class

Sahngoh is an A-rank Awakened known as Korea's best Wind Mage. In combat he uses Wind magic to disrupt an entire wolf formation so Hammer Guild's physical fighters can engage, while personally tracking the alpha and anticipating its counterattack. His guild has experience first-clearing six-star dungeons and defeating large bosses, establishing veteran tactical experience even though the source does not name his spells, quantify their range, or show him defeating the alpha alone. (Chapter 48)

His other strength is organizational command. He evaluates recruits, delegates negotiating authority, mobilizes veteran teams, shelters civilians in a fortified headquarters, and plans security for a high-profile international gathering. Those are professional capabilities rather than a supernatural class feature. (Chapters 21, 24, 48, and 76)

Relationships

  • Jung Minchan: Sahngoh values Minchan's scouting talent but initially refuses to trust it without proof. Minchan's resignation humiliates him, yet Sahngoh continues to watch his judgments.
  • Kang Woojin: Sahngoh fails to recruit Woojin, resents his lack of decorum, and ultimately chooses cooperation because Alandal has become too powerful to compete with directly.
  • Hong Sunggoo: Sahngoh initially underestimates Sunggoo, then appraises him uneasily after his rapid rise to A rank.
  • Kim Haemin: Haemin leads civilians and guild families toward Hammer's shelter during the Seoul Break, supporting Sahngoh's defensive response.
