Laura

Laura is the Scavenger Guild's head manager and Thomas Andre's most trusted professional adviser. Surrounded by S-rank hunters whose pride can turn a personal dispute into a national emergency, she supplies research, risk analysis, logistics, and the emotional translation that her employer often refuses to perform for himself.

Biography

Jeju Island and Ahjin Guild

Laura accompanies Thomas to Korea and briefs him on Jinwoo Sung, Dongsoo Hwang, and the suspicious death of Dongsoo's brother. She distinguishes confirmed facts from inference and frames the real organizational risk: if Dongsoo seeks revenge, Thomas's sense of ownership over a guild member may pull the entire Scavenger Guild into the conflict. She records Thomas's order to bar Dongsoo from Korea and goes further by recommending that the two hunters never be allowed to meet anywhere (Chapter 37).

The Architect and Japan’s Crisis

As manager of the Scavenger Guild's top-rank hunters, Laura later informs Thomas that Jinwoo's Ahjin Guild has been invited to the International Guild Conference. She delivers the news in person because placing Jinwoo and Dongsoo in the same country defeats the geographical safeguard she previously helped create. Laura again warns that an instruction alone may not contain Dongsoo's resentment (Chapter 54).

International Guild Conference

When Dongsoo abducts Jinho Yoo, Laura does not waste time defending her earlier forecast. She works with Adam White and the Hunter Command Center, compares Dongsoo's recent movement patterns, and isolates an unknown location he visited repeatedly. She then mobilizes guild personnel and uses the prospect of Thomas colliding with Jinwoo to secure immediate cooperation from people accustomed to ordinary jurisdictional delay (Chapter 55).

After Thomas is defeated, Laura remains at his bedside and reports the guild's losses without softening them. She replaces his ruined sunglasses before he wakes, a small act of care that preserves his dignity after a public defeat. Later, she interprets the gratitude Thomas struggles to state, records Jinwoo's preference for a useful dagger rather than money, and turns an awkward personal debt into an actionable request (Chapters 57–58).

The Monarch War Begins

Laura accompanies Thomas into the Scavenger Guild's secure storage room, where he selects the daggers made from Kamish's fangs. She initially resists surrendering an irreplaceable national treasure, but accepts that Thomas intends more than compensation and that the weapons suit their recipient. In Seoul, she prepares to evacuate as the enormous gate threatens the city, while Thomas elects to remain. Laura recognizes the loyalty and pride beneath that decision even while treating his attraction to danger as another eccentricity she must manage (Chapters 61–62).

Appearance and personality

Laura is a blond woman with a polished, professional manner. She is usually shown taking notes or working through information on a laptop, visual habits that match her preference for records over improvisation (Chapters 37, 54–55).

She is calm, exact, and observant without being emotionally detached. Her restraint complements Thomas's impulsive presence: she anticipates his possessiveness, challenges him when it endangers the guild, and translates feelings he will not state directly. Replacing his sunglasses and remaining beside his hospital bed reveal care expressed through practical service rather than sentimentality (Chapters 37, 57–58).

Intelligence and risk analysis

Laura assembles biographical, operational, and political information about elite hunters, then converts it into concrete forecasts. Her warning about Jinwoo and Dongsoo is notable because it accounts not only for their power but for Thomas's likely reaction. That ability to model personalities is central to managing a guild whose strongest members cannot be controlled by ordinary force (Chapters 37, 54).

Crisis coordination

During Jinho's abduction, Laura coordinates the Scavenger Guild, the Hunter Command Center, and field personnel while comparing location data. She identifies an anomalous destination quickly and communicates in terms each organization will act upon. Her authority also includes access to secure storage and the practical details of international movement (Chapters 55, 61–62).

Negotiation and interpersonal judgment

Laura mediates after the conflict by reporting losses, preserving Thomas's dignity, interpreting his gratitude, and eliciting a useful form of restitution from Jinwoo. She can challenge Thomas without humiliating him and speak for him without pretending his intentions are her own. She has no hunter rank or demonstrated magic sensitivity; her limits are human, and her influence depends on trust, information, and the willingness of powerful people to listen (Chapters 57–58).

• Thomas Andre: Thomas relies on Laura as manager, adviser, and interpreter of both information and intent. Her loyalty includes warning him when his pride endangers the guild.
• Jinwoo Sung: Laura's view progresses from remote risk analysis to respectful mediation after Jinwoo proves both more powerful and more restrained than the guild expected.
