Thomas Andre
Thomas Andre, called Goliath, is an American national-level hunter and master of the Scavenger Guild. His brutal certainty that power determines authority is broken by defeat at Jinwoo Sung’s hands, after which he becomes one of Jinwoo’s most conspicuous international allies.
Biography
A king made by violence
Thomas grows up poor in an immigrant household and spends his youth as one of the few white children in a neighborhood where he is repeatedly forced into fights, sometimes against groups and weapons. His exceptional strength settles those confrontations so completely that he learns an enduring rule: the stronger person becomes king, while the weaker one submits. That belief later shapes both his pride and his treatment of Scavenger’s hunters as members of a domain he personally protects. (Chapter 56)
His adult status appears to confirm the lesson. Thomas is one of the five survivors of the Kamish raid and receives the national-level designation, authority comparable to a state’s military power, and extraordinary international privileges. The United States treats his service as having saved hundreds of millions of lives. As master of Scavenger, he commands a major guild filled with elite hunters and expects his decisions to carry the weight of law within it. (Chapters 54, 56)
Thomas first studies Jinwoo through footage of the Jeju Island raid. He recognizes dangerous power and instructs Laura to keep Dongsoo Hwang separated from the Korean hunter, understanding that Dongsoo’s obsession with his brother could ignite a confrontation. His interest is partly competitive, but the warning also shows responsible command: he anticipates a disaster well before the subordinate who causes it. (Chapter 37)
The Scavenger conflict
At the international conference, Thomas repeats the order that Dongsoo must not approach Jinwoo. Dongsoo evades monitoring and kidnaps Jinho Yoo, forcing Thomas to mobilize Scavenger in search of its own member. Thomas’s priorities are possessive rather than impartial. He knows Dongsoo disobeyed, but still treats an attack on a guild hunter as an attack on his authority and arrives prepared to stop Jinwoo from taking vengeance. (Chapters 54–56)
Thomas offers Jinwoo a chance to stand down, then deploys Scavenger’s force when refused. Jinwoo defeats the guild members and fights Thomas directly. Thomas activates his armored form, uses gravitational control to seize the battlefield, and answers with attacks designed to crush even S-rank opponents. None of it restores the hierarchy he expects. Jinwoo breaks through his defenses, refuses to stop when Scavenger attempts to intervene, and beats him until every bone in his body is shattered. (Chapter 56)
The defeat is Thomas’s first conclusive experience of being the weaker man. He survives because of the resilience attached to national-level power, but the result cannot be explained away as luck or politics. When he later asks why Jinwoo spared him, Jinwoo gives a simple answer: Thomas was not responsible for Jinho’s torture, and Jinwoo saw no reason to kill him. Thomas accepts that judgment and, beneath visible embarrassment, becomes deeply grateful to the person who defeated him without abusing victory. (Chapter 58)
Respect and Kamish’s Wrath
Thomas’s new respect is expressed through action rather than a verbal declaration of submission. He seeks Jinwoo out, offers hospitality, and later brings him Kamish’s Wrath, a pair of daggers made by a master craftsman from the fangs of the dragon Kamish. The gift is both an apology and recognition: Thomas gives away a nearly irreplaceable national treasure because the weapons suit the hunter he now acknowledges as stronger. (Chapters 58, 61)
The relationship remains characteristically boisterous. Thomas is still proud, physically imposing, and unaccustomed to modesty; he has not become a different person overnight. What changes is the rule he applies to Jinwoo. Having received mercy after defeat, he no longer treats respect as humiliation and can support Jinwoo without pretending their powers are equal. (Chapters 58, 61)
Battle with the Beast Monarch
When the Beast Monarch attacks Seoul, Thomas moves toward the danger and orders civilians evacuated. He activates Enforcement, draws the enemy away from bystanders, and combines gravitational attacks with overwhelming punches. His national-level strength makes him one of the few humans able to engage a Monarch directly for more than an instant. (Chapter 63)
The fight also defines his ceiling. The Beast Monarch breaks Thomas’s hands, tears through his reinforced body, and mauls him despite the durability that let him survive Kamish and Jinwoo. Lennart Neirmann interrupts the killing blow, and Jinwoo’s arrival drives the Monarch away. Thomas survives again, but this loss differs from the Scavenger conflict: he is injured while protecting a city rather than enforcing ownership over a subordinate. (Chapters 63–64)
Global war and the restored world
Thomas returns to combat when gates pour armies into the human world. He leads Scavenger from the front, rescues surrounded soldiers, and uses his hands as siege weapons against massed enemies. His participation confirms that defeat did not make him withdraw from the responsibilities attached to his power. (Chapters 69, 72)
In the timeline created by the Cup of Reincarnation, hunters never emerge. Thomas instead channels his physique and appetite for competition into combat sports, becoming a celebrated heavyweight champion with a public reputation as a dangerous “bad boy.” Norma Selner remains connected to him after saving his life in a car accident, preserving a version of the loyal circle that surrounded him in the hunter era. Appearance and personality
Thomas is exceptionally tall, broad, and muscular, with blond hair, sharp facial features, and a habit of wearing sunglasses. His relaxed grin can appear genial or threatening depending on context. When he activates Enforcement, his body swells further and is covered in a dense golden or metallic-looking armor of reinforced mana, turning the already massive hunter into the figure behind the name Goliath. (Chapters 54, 56, 63)
He is proud, territorial, direct, and accustomed to command. Thomas calls guild members “his” people and initially interprets conflict through dominance: allowing Jinwoo to punish Dongsoo would mean accepting an attack on Thomas’s kingdom. Yet his pride has a code inside it. He warns Dongsoo before the crisis, protects civilians during the Monarch attack, pays debts, and can accept an unambiguous loss. Jinwoo’s mercy exposes a form of strength that Thomas’s childhood rule overlooked, allowing gratitude and respect to replace the need for retaliation. (Chapters 37, 54–58, 63)
Abilities, skills, and rank
National-level hunter
Thomas is one of the few surviving hunters recognized as weapons on the scale of nations. His mana, strength, durability, and authority far exceed ordinary S ranks. He survives the Kamish disaster, Jinwoo’s sustained beating, and the Beast Monarch’s mauling—each an event that would kill almost any normal hunter. The title does not make him invincible: Jinwoo and the Monarchs occupy still higher tiers. (Chapters 54, 56, 63)
Enforcement
Enforcement transforms Thomas into a larger, heavily armored combat form. Dense mana hardens his body, dramatically increasing strength and defense while sacrificing some speed. It lets him absorb enormous impacts and continue delivering close-range attacks after ordinary defenses would fail. Jinwoo penetrates it through superior force and speed, while the Beast Monarch eventually tears it apart. (Chapters 56, 63)
Capture and Gravitation
Thomas controls powerful attractive force over a broad area. Capture drags targets and debris toward him so that opponents cannot easily maintain distance; Gravitation applies the same principle on a battlefield scale. The ability is especially effective when combined with his armored body, because anything pulled inward enters the range of his fists. Opponents with overwhelming power can resist or escape the field. (Chapters 56, 63)
Demolish, Power Smash, and Heavy Blow
Thomas converts his mass and reinforced strength into named impact techniques. Demolish drives both fists into a destructive shock wave, while Power Smash and Heavy Blow focus crushing power through direct strikes. The attacks devastate buildings and terrain and would be decisive against most hunters. Jinwoo reads and counters them, and the Beast Monarch withstands them long enough to retaliate. Combat instincts and endurance
Thomas has fought since childhood and later survives the most catastrophic dungeon raid in American history. He understands how to turn size, grappling force, leaps, and shock waves into a complete close-range style. His exceptional endurance lets him keep making decisions under extreme injury, but his confidence can become rigidity: against Jinwoo, he escalates because conceding authority feels impossible until defeat is absolute. (Chapters 56, 63)
Guild and crisis leadership
Scavenger responds to Thomas as both commander and symbol. He can rapidly mobilize large numbers of hunters, coordinate searches, order evacuations, and lead troops into a global battlefield. His leadership is protective when directed toward civilians and destructive when loyalty becomes possession, as the Dongsoo crisis demonstrates. (Chapters 54–56, 63, 72)
Relationships
- Jinwoo Sung: Thomas first treats Jinwoo as a dangerous rival and later as an intruder challenging his authority over Scavenger. Defeat and mercy transform the relationship into genuine respect, expressed through Kamish’s Wrath and Thomas’s later cooperation. (Chapters 37, 56, 58, 61)
- Dongsoo Hwang: Dongsoo is a valuable but unstable guild member. Thomas correctly predicts his vendetta will cause a crisis and issues a direct prohibition; Dongsoo’s disobedience exposes the danger in Thomas’s belief that guild assets must be defended regardless of fault. (Chapters 37, 54–56)
- Laura: Laura is Thomas’s manager and trusted operational partner. She monitors risks, interprets his embarrassed gratitude after the loss to Jinwoo, and helps manage Scavenger’s international affairs. (Chapters 37, 54, 58, 61)
