Lina
Lina, whose full recorded name is Lina Lee, is the Dark Citadel's Vampire Princess and the legitimate daughter and intended successor of its current Dracula. “Lina Lee” and “Lina” identify the same woman, not separate tournament fighters. She combines shadow and dimensional Disciplines with a vampire bloodline, but her unusual breadth initially exceeds her experience at integrating the two powers. (Chapters 398–405 and 411–413)
Biography
Tournament challenge and divided loyalties
Lina first appears as a cloaked tournament fighter against Chu Cheng. Although her shadow and dimensional attacks make her dangerous, his higher rank defeats her, and she responds to his immediate flirtation with a slap rather than gratitude. An audience vote returns her to the competition, where she challenges Lan Jue. She forces both Disciplines into a blood-powered final strike, but Lan Jue's experience combining powers and the natural pressure of his yang lightning expose her incomplete fusion; the effort exhausts her and ends her tournament. Chu Cheng forfeits his own place to help her, transforming him from an irritating pursuer into someone she is willing to know, though no settled romance follows. (Chapters 398–405)
Away from the arena, Lina recognizes Lan Jue as Zeus and joins him, Qianlin, and Chu Cheng for dinner before drawing the group into a nightclub dance contest. The evening reveals a rebellious, energetic side beneath her aristocratic severity, while her sharp treatment of Chu Cheng keeps their relationship on her terms. Her final direct appearance places her beside the Dark Citadel during the confrontation around the Eastern delegation. She looks pained by the alignment, suggesting conflict rather than enthusiasm, but remains bound to her faction; the narration describes her as Chu Cheng's former crush and gives her no later individual fate. (Chapters 411–413, 455, and 487)
Appearance and personality
Lina is tall, lithe, and athletic, with very pale skin, dark red hair, black eyes, and a coldly beautiful face. She first fights in a tight dark outfit and cloak, while leathery bat-like wings reveal her vampire inheritance. Her bearing is proud and severe in the arena, contrasting with the uninhibited energy she displays while dancing. (Chapters 398–399 and 411–413)
She is haughty, perceptive, independent, and quick to reject presumptuous behavior. Lina dislikes playboys and refuses to let Chu Cheng's charm erase either his advantage in their match or her own boundaries. At the same time, she can revise a judgment when actions deserve it: his sacrifice and care earn a dinner rather than immediate romance, and she treats Qianlin with easy friendliness. (Chapters 399–413)
Disciplines and abilities
Lina is a ninth-level third-rank Adept with vampire physiology and two distinct Disciplines: shadow and dimensional control. She creates dark blades and rapiers, shadow doubles, energy waves, red sanguine fire or aura, and short spatial transitions; at peak attack she can turn herself into a living blade. Her blood can be used as a sacrifice to drive an especially destructive combined strike. (Chapters 398–405)
The coexistence of two strong but unrelated Disciplines is also her central limit. Lina can alternate between a dark shadow weapon and a silver dimensional rapier, but she has not mastered their true fusion during the tournament. Lan Jue's greater experience with dual powers lets him read the transition, and his yang lightning naturally suppresses her darkness. The blood sacrifice increases danger but leaves her exhausted when the attack fails, demonstrating that it is a costly commitment rather than an effortless finishing move. (Chapters 404–405)
Relationships
- Chu Cheng: Chu Cheng defeats Lina, persistently courts her, and sacrifices his tournament place to aid her after she is wounded. She softens enough to spend time with him but never becomes his confirmed partner.
- Lan Jue: Lina identifies Lan Jue as Zeus and fights him in the tournament. His tactical experience and yang lightning exploit the limits in her dual-Discipline fusion.
- Zhou Qianlin: Lina is friendly toward Qianlin during their social evening, a marked contrast to the sharpness she reserves for Chu Cheng.
Items
No separately cataloged notable items are associated with Lina. Her shadow and dimensional rapiers are Discipline manifestations rather than cataloged physical weapons.
