Knave

Knave is the DreamNet pilot persona of the Coffee Master, not a second civilian identity. Known as the Fastest Hands Alive, he is an elite God-ranked pilot whose extraordinary input speed and doppelganger control make him dangerous even to the Four Divine Monarchs. A simulated defeat destroys his mecha avatar, not his physical body.

Biography

The clown-masked challenger

Knave returns to DreamNet as part of the Star Alliance exhibition team, greeting Lan Jue as an old opponent and demanding a rematch. He pilots Phantom against the Four Divine Monarchs and divides it into multiple doppelgangers, but Prometheus’s planning and Thor’s area lightning trap every image in a pincer attack. Phantom is destroyed inside the simulation. After the exhibition, Knave removes the clown mask and reveals the familiar Coffee Master, who remains alive and resumes his ordinary Avenue life. The Coffee Master’s military role

The Knave identity later becomes public within Star Division when Lan Jue names the Coffee Master commander of its Third Brigade. The appointment uses his piloting expertise rather than claiming an exceptional combat Discipline: the brigade consists of roughly one hundred specialists whose varied abilities do not fit the other formations. Chapter 533 is the last direct use of the Knave name and leaves the man behind it alive in command; the supplied corpus does not give this persona a separate later death or independent existence. Appearance and personality

As Knave, the Coffee Master appears small and frail, with unusually long arms, restless fingers, and a clown mask hiding his familiar face. His purple mecha Phantom is slender as a whip, carries two half-swords, and trembles continuously because of the pilot’s constant inputs. This is a masked DreamNet presentation, not evidence of a separate Knave body. (Chapters 269, 276, and 289)

He is boastful, competitive, mischievous, and intensely reluctant to accept defeat. He taunts old friends, hides the exhibition team’s composition, and still disputes the result after losing. As the Coffee Master, the same quick temper becomes familiar banter with Lan Jue, while the later brigade appointment shows that the Avenue trusts his expertise and leadership despite the theatrics. Record-setting hand speed

Knave is credited with 103 commands per second, the fastest recorded hand speed in DreamNet, and ranks among Sanctuary’s strongest pilots. The speed lets him issue exceptionally dense control sequences and operate multiple doppelgangers; Lan Jue remembers him as the only pilot he had seen properly employ three at once. His reputation rests on piloting skill, not on having a separate supernatural identity from the Coffee Master. (Chapter 269)

Phantom and tactical limits

Phantom turns those inputs into rapid twin-blade movement and convincing mirror images. Speed alone is not perfect control: at maximum pace Knave can fall into habitual patterns, which Lan Jue exploited in their earlier duel. In the exhibition, broad lightning suppresses every doppelganger and leaves no path to dodge, while other team members are described as stronger once personal Disciplines are added to mecha combat. His own Discipline is characterized as average rather than a principal source of his fame. (Chapters 269, 276–278, and 324)
