Han Ruchao

Han Ruchao is the dean of Lyr University and a long-standing academic rival of National Eastern University dean Xu Renjian. His early confidence in Lyr's mecha program becomes wartime resolve when the alien invasion reaches his campus.

Biography

Rival dean

Han Ruchao leads Lyr University's annual exchange with the NEU, proposes wagers on its mecha and research contests, and prepares publicity intended to amplify an expected victory. His school dominates the opening matches because its students train regularly in real mechas, but Tang Xiao's unorthodox tactics reverse the momentum and leave Han protesting the result. The rivalry is petty and theatrical, yet it also reflects Han's deliberate effort to make Lyr's pilots treat simulations as preparation for real combat. (Chapters 177–186, 189–197)

Years later, Han remains at Lyr University when the alien attack reaches the planet. He reports that the mecha department is armed, that unwilling civilians have evacuated, and that those remaining are prepared to fight. When Lan Jue later reaches the campus, Han and the other leaders have preserved the university through a costly defense: most lives are saved, but several teachers die and many defenders are injured. Han survives, exhausted and emotional, with no subsequent fate recorded. (Chapters 659, 664)

Appearance and personality

Han is at least a head taller than Xu Renjian and carries himself with the confidence of a prominent academic administrator. He is talkative, competitive, smug when winning, and quick to accuse an opponent when embarrassed. The invasion reveals a more serious quality: fatigue cannot erase his determination, and the deaths of his teachers affect him deeply despite the campus's survival. (Chapters 177–186, 659, 664)

Disciplines and abilities

Academic leadership

Han's demonstrated expertise is institutional rather than supernatural. He oversees a mecha program built around frequent live practice, repair accountability, incentives, and battlefield-minded instruction. During the invasion he coordinates the department's mobilization and helps sustain the campus defense. (Chapters 177–186, 659–664)

The corpus does not identify a Discipline, Adept rank, personal mecha, or direct combat technique for Han. Lyr's survival is credited to the steadfast effort of its broader faculty and defenders, so it cannot be treated as a solo feat. (Chapters 659, 664)

Relationships

  • Xu Renjian: Xu Renjian is Han's friendly but bitter institutional rival. Their wagers, speeches, and reciprocal taunts turn the university exchange into a contest of pride as well as training. (Chapters 177–197)
  • Shi Jiujiu: Shi Jiujiu supports Han's exchange delegation and publicity strategy for using a victory to raise Lyr University's standing. (Chapters 178–197)
  • Su He: Su He is Lyr's strongest mecha pilot and a ninth-level Talent whose presence strengthens Han and the campus defenders during the invasion. (Chapters 659, 664)
  • Lan Jue: Han first encounters Lan Jue through the NEU exchange and later receives him at the damaged but surviving Lyr University. (Chapters 177–197, 664)
