Geng Yang

Geng Yang is National Eastern University's leading student pilot when the Lir exchange begins. An experienced Emperor-ranked competitor, he initially defines himself through individual skill and rivalry, but A.R.C. training forces him to put squad survival ahead of pride. His unnamed Discipline produces golden energy and can reinforce his equipment; a tentative question in the narration associates it with Metamorphosis, but the corpus never confirms that as its formal name. Biography

From university champion to squad leader

Geng Yang enters the Lir exchange as National Eastern University's best pilot, the mecha-combat valedictorian, and an Emperor-ranked student with more than a year at that level. That reputation makes him the natural vanguard against Hua Qianhu, but the calm sniper unsettles him into overcommitting; a momentary hesitation exposes his cockpit to a decisive simulated shot. The virtual loss leaves Geng physically unharmed but punctures his confidence, and he later yields a live-combat place to Tang Xiao after seeing the other student's performance. Lan Jue's A.R.C. program converts that setback into more demanding team training. Geng resists when the drillmaster appears to abuse female students, revealing courage as well as impulsiveness, and his golden Discipline helps him endure longer than most of the class. Appointed leader of Delta squad, he and Jin Tao knowingly expose an enemy position during the An Lun war game even though concentrated simulated fire eliminates them. Those exercises teach him that a useful defeat can protect the larger force. (Chapters 231, 241–246, 291, and 304–313)

On Crimson Star, the same lesson becomes a real matter of life and death. Geng is afraid and exhausted, yet he suppresses rivalry, asks Tang Xiao for help, and prioritizes withdrawing his squad from a pirate compound. His golden aura reinforces his Warsuit, rifle, and blades, but prolonged use drains him; when he challenges a lion-shaped mecha to save a comrade, fatigue and unfamiliar blades nearly get him killed before Xiuxiu and Mika intervene. He regroups instead of collapsing, completing his movement from proud solo competitor toward responsible field leader. Chapter 512 later shows him enduring harsher lightning training with greater tenacity, but no later passage assigns him an individual wartime fate or promotion. (Chapters 316–319 and 512)

Appearance and personality

Geng Yang is a handsome young man with fiery red hair and smoldering crimson eyes. His early eagerness for combat matches that appearance: he is proud of his pilot ranking, intensely competitive, and vulnerable to provocation or psychological pressure. He is not cowardly, however. A.R.C. reveals a protective sense of fairness, and real combat shows that fear does not prevent him from accepting responsibility for others. (Chapters 170, 178–180, and 241)

His most important development is practical humility. He gives Tang Xiao an opportunity when it is deserved, accepts that his own preferred tactics have limits, and requests assistance during the pirate battle rather than sacrificing his squad to preserve his image. Disciplines and abilities

Geng is an Emperor-ranked mecha pilot who favors close combat and a spear. He can execute Disordered Leaping rapidly enough to leave confusing afterimages, and he later gains experience with rifles, squad command, and integrated Warsuit combat. Hua Qianhu demonstrates an early weakness: technical movement cannot compensate for impatience, a lost firing line, or hesitation against a disciplined long-range opponent. His unnamed Discipline manifests as a brilliant golden aura, fiery-looking energy, and multiple golden orbs. It can strengthen his Warsuit and weapons and allows him to continue under severe physical pressure. Lan Jue asks whether the display is “Metamorphosis,” but the question is not a confirmed classification. Sustained use consumes Geng's reserves, and his near-fatal attempt to fight with ordinary blades shows that Discipline reinforcement does not remove exhaustion or make an unfamiliar weapon equal to his spear. • Lan Jue: Lan Jue is Geng's A.R.C. drillmaster. His deliberately punishing exercises expose Geng's impulsiveness and then cultivate the endurance and coordination he needs in real combat.
• Tang Xiao: Geng begins as Tang Xiao's peer and rival, but he yields a competition place to him and later asks for his help when Delta squad's survival matters more than pride.
