Beautician

Beautician is a Skyfire Avenue shopkeeper, council member, and master of illusion. Her playful public rivalry with the Barber conceals a deep attachment that becomes explicit only after his death in Star Division's first encounter with the alien planets.

Biography

Councilor and tournament competitor

The Beautician first serves on the Avenue committee receiving visiting adepts and identifies her rare Discipline as Illusion. She joins the Barber in provoking Lan Jue into a Reaper Arena contest, but later lets the hostility lapse and resumes their familiar banter. As one of the Avenue's younger ninth-level councilors, she represents the organization at the Great Adept Tournament, advances through seven rounds, and then loses to Jiang Yuan when his curses overcome her illusions. Star Division assigns the Beautician to Third Brigade, where her battlefield manipulation earns her command of its Ace Squad and access to a God-ranked mecha. During the Shattered Starfields campaign she remains aboard a battleship and does not witness the Barber's death. On returning, she initially rejects the news and reveals that she refused his proposal only because she feared their age difference would burden his future. Her grief hardens into a desire for vengeance against the aliens; the last update says she remains alive and is beginning to recover, sustained by that purpose. (Chapters 533, 590–592, 596)

Appearance and personality

The Beautician appears to be a stunning woman in her late twenties, with a striking figure, painted red lips, decorated fingernails, and a taste for long pink dresses. She smiles alluringly, giggles, and habitually addresses colleagues with teasing diminutives. The playful façade accompanies real confidence and a dangerous reputation, but her reaction to the Barber's death exposes vulnerability, regret, and the depth of loyalty beneath her flirtation. Disciplines and abilities

Illusion

Her Illusion Discipline creates phantasmal perceptions and is rare enough that Lan Jue treats an unknown ninth-level user as a serious threat. Within Star Division it enables potent manipulation of the battlefield, making the Beautician valuable in reconnaissance and support operations. The exact forms and range of her illusions are not shown in detail. (Chapters 29, 422, 590)

Her tournament result establishes a practical limit: Jiang Yuan's necromantic curses defeat her despite the two powers sharing an occult character. She is also described as lower-ranked than the tournament's leading contestants, so her illusion does not by itself overcome a stronger specialist. (Chapters 422–424)

Relationships

• Barber: The Barber is her closest companion and would-be fiancé. She teases him publicly and rejects his proposal because of their age difference, then learns too late that she wanted a future with him. His death becomes the central unresolved loss of her story. • Lan Jue: She initially calls Lan Jue “Little Brother” and helps draw him into a contest with the Barber. He later commands her in Star Division and must tell her that the Barber has died. (Chapters 29–33, 533, 591–592)
• Coffee Master: The Beautician avenges the Coffee Master's tournament loss by facing the same necromancer, and later serves in his Third Brigade aboard a battleship. (Chapters 422–424, 590)
