Soaring Cloud
Soaring Cloud is the first Faerie-grade equipment obtained by any player in Mystic Moon. The light silver spear gives Ling Chen an early long-reach weapon and a throwable line attack before later Celestial weapons eclipse its damage.
History
First Faerie weapon
Ling Chen obtains Soaring Cloud in the Forgotten Cave, triggering global and regional announcements because no player has previously acquired equipment of its grade. It initially stands alone on the equipment ranking and attracts worldwide attention, making the spear both a dramatic increase in Ling Chen’s combat power and public evidence that the anonymous leading player possesses rewards far beyond the ordinary progression curve. (Chapters 34–35)
Paired-weapon combat
After gaining the Zephyr Blade, Ling Chen commonly equips Soaring Cloud in the other hand. The spear’s reach and projectile skill complement his close-range sword attacks, letting him strike separated enemies or throw the weapon when an opponent threatens his companions. This pairing remains effective through his early Heart’s Dream battles even as the spear is no longer his strongest individual weapon. (Chapters 126, 143–152)
A situational older weapon
Ling Chen uses Soaring Cloud less often after acquiring several Celestial-grade choices, but it remains in his inventory and can still fill a tactical gap. He brings it out while farming Grey Sheep and later throws it at the Rock Devil King to deliver the last needed damage from a distance. The latter scene explicitly notes that its power has fallen behind Zephyr Blade, confirming that the spear is useful but superseded. (Chapters 265, 372, 376)
Abilities and properties
- Faerie spear: Soaring Cloud requires a level-ten warrior profession and at least fifty Strength. It grants attack, Strength, Agility, piercing, and a small chance to inflict Blindness; its long shaft also has a high parry-judgement value, though exploiting the precise timing is difficult. (Chapter 34)
- Shooting Soaring Cloud: Ling Chen throws the spear through enemies in a fifteen-metre line. The attack is stated to hit compulsorily, deals three times normal attack damage, and has a one-percent instant-death chance, at the cost of health, mana, and a one-hundred-second cooldown. The thrown spear does not return automatically, so recovery and positioning remain practical constraints. (Chapter 34)
- Light construction: The spear is described as light as a feather and leaves dazzling silver trails. Those traits support fast handling, but the corpus does not grant it independent flight or automatic recall. (Chapter 34)
