Su Hong Cheng
Biography
Calamity in the East Ocean Continent
Su Hong Cheng is the father of the Su family’s only young heir and arranges Su’Er’s engagement to Xuanyuan Xue Yi as a prestigious family alliance. At her birthday banquet he publicly announces the match while interpreting her quiet compliance as normal shyness. The episode shows a father acting through status and convention without understanding his daughter’s fear or attachment to another person. (Chapters 493, 496–497)
The Defense and Founding of Ling Tian City
Ling Chen’s arrival overturns the engagement banquet. Su Hong Cheng witnesses impossible strength and the recordings that expose Xuanyuan Xue Yi, then faces Ling Chen’s demand that he recognize the intervention as a rescue. The humiliation destroys the proposed match and reveals how poorly status alone predicted the candidate’s character, though Su Hong Cheng has little control over the violent spectacle. (Chapters 501–504)
The Moon God Palace and the Shura’s Return
Su Hong Cheng brings Su’Er home from the Yun residence without knowing she has already been exposed to Isrock. When her infection becomes clear, the usually strict mayor appears to age in hours and waits helplessly outside isolation. Ling Tian’s promise of a cure gives him hope he would reject from almost anyone else, and Su’Er’s recovery ends the immediate nightmare. (Chapters 704–709)
Xiya and the Perfect Moon
In the later restored household, Su Hong Cheng celebrates a family birthday and theatrically reproaches Ling Chen and Su’Er for forgetting a gift. The exchange shows affectionate integration rather than the formal distance of the engagement banquet. He remains alive and close to them, with no evidence of a new supernatural role or retirement from public life. (Chapters 845–846)
Appearance and personality
Su Hong Cheng carries the disciplined public manner of Beijing’s mayor but is socially conventional and highly attentive to family prestige. Crisis exposes genuine paternal love beneath those calculations: Su’Er’s illness leaves him helpless and visibly aged. Later scenes show a warmer, teasing relationship with Ling Chen after the family conflict has eased. (Chapters 493–504, 704–709, 845–846)
Abilities and powers
His power is municipal, political, and familial. He can convene major officials, command security, and arrange elite alliances, but has no stated esper abilities or exceptional personal combat. Neither political office nor wealth can cure Isrock or restrain Ling Chen once the latter acts directly. (Chapters 493–504, 704–709)
