Soulstone

Soulstone is the collective name for fourteen stones left by Luciel: seven aligned with the Cardinal Sins and seven with the Cardinal Virtues. Individual stones retain separate identities and custodial histories; Yeon-woo's Sin Stone is a combined vessel made from some of them, not a synonym for the entire class.

History

Luciel's divided stones

The stones first enter the investigation through Luciel's missing Soulstone and its use by Vieira Dune. The Cyclopes later explain the full structure: fourteen Soulstones divided between the Seven Deadly Sins and Seven Virtues, with each stone expressing its namesake quality. (Chapters 248–250, 355)

Jeong-woo uses Superbia to make the Pocket Watch, the Gluttony Emperor possesses Gula, Vieira Dune uses Luxuria, and the Cyclopes preserve Castitas and draw the fire of the beginning from it. These are different stones and uses, not transfers of one object. (Chapters 250, 352, 355, 519–521, 594)

Combination without loss of the class

Yeon-woo combines Superbia and Gula inside the Philosopher's Stone, later consumes Luxuria, and continues collecting Cardinal Sin stones. By Chapter 768, six Sin stones have merged, while the seventh is still missing; other Soulstones, including the virtue-aligned stones, remain distinct. (Chapters 418, 519, 590–593, 768)

Abilities and properties

  • Each stone contains immense magic or holy power and strongly expresses one sin or virtue. (Chapters 355, 594)
  • Cardinal Sin stones tend to release active, turbulent power, while Castitas demonstrates the absorbing and purifying tendency associated with a virtue stone. (Chapter 594)
  • Compatible stones can merge into a Sin Stone or a theoretical Virtue Stone. (Chapters 418, 594, 768)
  • Even an unattended stone can distort a planet's climate, ecology, or inhabitants. (Chapter 768)
