Marquis Caliburn is one of Blood Land's strongest marquises and a cherished sword of the Gluttony Emperor. His loyalty to subordinate and sovereign makes him dangerous, but also lets Yeon-woo turn a convincing lie about Baron Lao into an alliance and declaration of war.

Biography

Loyalty redirected by a false report

Caliburn sends Lao to observe Yeon-woo and extend Blood Land's invitation, then personally confronts the player when his emissary disappears. Yeon-woo claims that Lao died protecting him from the Elohim, exploiting the marquis's belief that loyalty must be honored. Moved by the fabricated last stand, Caliburn declares Yeon-woo Blood Land's ally through a mana pledge and vows retaliation against the Elohim. News of Red Dragon's assault then recalls him to the ruined Kelat Auction House, where he accepts Duke Ardbad's order to prepare Blood Land for war. (Chapters 195–196, 212, 224–226)

Appearance and personality

Caliburn is a fierce-looking middle-aged man with sharp, knife-like eyes. He wears red armor with a military unit and controls his expression even when angered, but Lao's supposed sacrifice makes his hands and gaze tremble. He is formal, martial, and deeply susceptible to appeals framed as loyalty to the emperor. (Chapters 224–226)

Abilities and powers

Caliburn is a high ranker counted among the strongest of Blood Land's Eight Marquises. His infused speech can establish a system-recognized pledge of mana, creating a binding line between parties and formalizing protection and war commitments.
