Kalatus

Kalatus is the last king of the dragons, a scholar-ruler who builds inheritances and sanctuaries for his declining race before returning as one of Yeon-woo's dragons of death.

Biography

The Dragon King chooses Jeong-woo

Facing the extinction of his race, Kalatus treats Jeong-woo's Mythical Beast potential as a possible future rather than merely another player to sponsor. He forms a contract that lets Jeong-woo borrow draconic power and leaves him the staged Dragon Body inheritance, tying physical awakening, magic control, and draconic senses to gradual growth. The choice gives Jeong-woo exceptional capabilities while making Kalatus's larger purpose clear: he wants the dragons' knowledge and possibility of rebirth to survive beyond his own failing generation. A sanctuary compromised by Chaos

Kalatus creates Laputa, the Dragon Temple, the territory Binah, and defensive automata as safeguards for dragon knowledge and remains. Desperation to overcome extinction also drives him toward the Crawling Chaos for knowledge beyond the established universe, a bargain that leaves his body and soul corrupted and turns a guardian of the dragons into the Demonic Dragon of Chaos. Through the grave's remnants he warns Yeon-woo to hurry; defeating the corrupted form releases the territory, but it does not immediately repair the damage done to Kalatus himself. Freed from hibernation and remade in death

Yeon-woo later finds Kalatus hibernating within the Crawling Chaos and separates them with Hades's Spirit Eating Sword. Kalatus awakens in his immense dragon body despite a badly diminished soul, spends precious remaining power to support the fight, and recovers when he receives a share of the defeated being's holy power. He then accepts existence as a dragon of death under Yeon-woo, fighting beside the Summer Queen and carrying his ancient war against the forces responsible for the dragons' ruin into the campaigns against Allforone. Appearance and personality

Kalatus's restored body is an enormous dragon roughly one hundred fifty meters long, with luminous golden-yellow eyes; after his remaking, deathly darkness accompanies that draconic form. He is patient, scholarly, and intensely curious, retaining an investigator's interest even amid danger. Loyalty to the dragons can make him desperate enough to accept a catastrophic bargain, but he also plans for successors, preserves knowledge, and spends his limited soul power when protecting others requires it.

Abilities and powers

Kalatus combines the body and magic of a dragon king with extensive knowledge of territories, inheritance design, and artificial guardians. Corruption and soul damage sharply reduce him for a time; his later status as a dragon of death changes the condition of his existence without erasing his draconic identity.

Dragon body, Breath, and magical knowledge

In his restored form, Kalatus possesses the size, durability, magic power, and Breath of an ancient dragon king. His Breath can contribute to battles on a divine scale, although awakening from the Crawling Chaos initially leaves so little soul power that even supportive action carries a serious cost. A share of the Crawling Chaos's holy power relights his darkened soul, after which Yeon-woo's death authority allows him to continue fighting as a dragon of death. Dragon Body inheritance and constructed domains

Kalatus's inheritance awakens a contractor through eight steps rather than granting complete dragonhood at once. Its demonstrated stages develop the Draconic Body, Draconic Pressure, Mana Control, Illusory Emission, and Divine Draconic Eyes, with later growth depending on the contractor's compatibility, training, and connection to draconic power. His engineering extends the same preservation effort into Laputa, Binah, the Dragon Temple, and Balnanta's defensive system; these works can shelter knowledge and test heirs, but powerful invaders and the Crawling Chaos prove they are not impregnable. Relationships

• Jeong-woo: Kalatus chooses Jeong-woo as his contractor and inheritor, giving him a route toward dragonhood as part of the king's effort to preserve his race.
• Yeon-woo: Yeon-woo follows Kalatus's warnings, frees him from the Crawling Chaos, restores his fading soul, and later commands him as a dragon of death.
• Summer Queen: The two surviving dragon monarchs fight together after death, joining their shared grievance over the destruction of the dragons to Yeon-woo's campaigns.
• Allforone: Kalatus directs his restored power against Allforone, whose control of the Tower is bound to the historical ruin of the dragon race.
