Hou Yi

Hou Yi is a founding member of Trinity Wonder, a great being of the Chan Sect, and the Heavenly Demon's longtime right-hand man. He extends divine power to Jang Wei and specializes in archery, light, pursuit, and reading opponents. Dissatisfied with the Heavenly Demon's refusal to intervene, Hou Yi joins Yvlke's Sea of Time to force his master into action, a choice that makes him Brahm's killer and an enemy of both Cha brothers.

Biography

A patron for the abandoned

Hou Yi reaches out to Jang Wei when the young man is alone, giving him entry to the Tower and the possibility of a new life as his Apostle. The relationship is demanding rather than constantly protective: Hou Yi withholds a blessing during the clash involving Agares and Hermes, then grants enough power at the last moment for Jang Wei to survive. Through that Channel, Jang Wei borrows Hou Yi's keen sight, pursuit, light, and long-range archery to hunt even opponents as formidable as the Martial King. (Chapters 212, 240, 452, 455, 484)

Forcing the Heavenly Demon to move

Hou Yi becomes frustrated with the Heavenly Demon's hands-off response to the repeated conflict between Day and Night. Yvlke persuades him that aiding the Sea of Time can overturn the board and force the Heavenly Demon out of the Changgong Library. Hou Yi therefore participates directly in the conspiracy around the One-horned tribe, kills Brahm to protect its secrets, and fights Yeon-woo with the other Trinity Wonder powers. The alliance continues after the Tower's collapse because its intended awakening still has not occurred. (Chapters 615–619, 758–759, 769)

An archer sacrifices his arm

Hou Yi reappears to delay Yeon-woo for Yvlke, but Jeong-woo learns that he killed Brahm and takes over the fight. Ruling Steps restrict Hou Yi's defining mobility, while Jeong-woo's growing power prevents him from obtaining the Soulstone that might offset the disadvantage. Jeong-woo cuts off his left arm, a severe loss for an archer, yet Hou Yi uses Shell Exuviation to sacrifice the limb and erase his trail. He escapes alive, though Jeong-woo extracts fragments of his legends from the abandoned divine power. (Chapters 758–769)

Appearance and personality

When Hou Yi manifests directly, he presents a composed human form associated with Jang Wei's face, sharp eyes, and an archer's equipment. He carries a bow at his shoulder and a quiver whose arrows of light can be wielded as short blades. Even under pressure, his expressions remain controlled enough to shift from curiosity to a bitter smile rather than open panic. (Chapters 615–619, 758–762)

Hou Yi is reserved, analytical, patient, and stubbornly interventionist. He can show real compassion by offering Jang Wei a new life, but his conviction that catastrophe is necessary makes him willing to kill Brahm and cooperate with Yvlke. He respects the Heavenly Demon yet resents his inaction, treating disobedience as a method of serving the larger purpose he believes his master should embrace. (Chapters 452, 455, 615–619, 769)

Divine archery and light

Hou Yi attacks over extreme distance with the Sun-Shooting Bow, Arrow Light, and volleys that become beams from multiple directions. His arrows of light can also function as paired daggers for close combat, allowing him to continue fighting when an enemy closes the distance. His greatest practical limit is control of space: Ruling Steps suppresses the agility on which his archery depends, and losing his left arm removes a lifeline for drawing and handling the bow. Sight, tracking, and an Apostle's Channel

Hou Yi grants Jang Wei Stealth Stalking and exceptionally keen eyes capable of penetrating an opponent's abilities. The Channel also carries holy power and emergency blessings, but Hou Yi controls when and how much aid arrives; Jang Wei can be left weakened even after surviving through it. Direct confrontation shows that superior concealment can still break the tracking system, as Yeon-woo's darkness disorients Hou Yi and prevents immediate pursuit. Shell Exuviation

Shell Exuviation lets Hou Yi abandon a sacrificial body part with a portion of his divine power, making the remnant resemble what an enemy was tracking while his true self escapes into emptiness. The technique successfully removes his location and active divine traces after Jeong-woo severs his arm. It is costly rather than absolute: the limb is lost, and Jeong-woo deciphers enough of the fading remnant to read Hou Yi's vestige thoughts and expose Yvlke's plan. (Chapter 769)

Relationships

• Jang Wei: Hou Yi gives the abandoned Jang Wei a new path as his Apostle and supplies his signature pursuit, sight, and archery powers.
• Yeon-woo: Hou Yi targets and delays Yeon-woo on Yvlke's behalf. Yeon-woo identifies him as Brahm's killer and repeatedly disrupts his plans.
• Jeong-woo: Jeong-woo pursues revenge for Brahm, overpowers Hou Yi with Ruling Steps, and severs the arm Hou Yi sacrifices to escape.
• Brahm: Hou Yi kills Brahm to protect the conspiracy's secrets, turning Brahm's family and allies into personal enemies.
• Yvlke: Yvlke recruits Hou Yi by promising a crisis capable of forcing the Heavenly Demon to act. Hou Yi continues the alliance while regarding it as conditional on that goal.
