Baron Longform
Baron Longform is a powerful Cathedral disciple whose tyrannical authority turns Jack Rust’s public defiance into a deadly feud. He later spends his life and cultivation to gain temporary power, but Jack kills him before he can escape.
Biography
A tyrant meets Jack’s defiance
Baron Longform is first named as an authority to whom others offer allegiance; Jack meets him directly much later as the Cathedral’s third-ranked outer disciple. Longform shares the Dao of Tyranny with Don Cranxiao, but the two express it differently: Cranxiao bullies the weak, while Longform is described as a genuine tyrant with a sharper and more dangerous presence. Jack recognizes that Longform once inadvertently helped him, but does not appeal to that debt because he sees a resemblance between Longform and Cranxiao (Chapters 99, 344).
After Jack defeats Cranxiao and publicly refuses to bow, Longform’s killing intent makes the crowd expect retaliation. Instead, he throws Jack a sack containing two extra Dao Stones. The reason he gives Jack extra stones remains unexplained, leaving the gesture ambiguous. Later, Longform treats Jack as an enemy during the Cathedral expedition. In the lava cavern, he attacks Jack and claims to have stopped Jack from stealing the treasure, while Jack says Longform pursued him to kill him. Longform sacrifices a thousand years of life and one Dao Fruit to temporarily increase his power, but Jack survives and decides he cannot safely let Longform escape. Jack kills him in the cavern, and Longform’s body disappears into the underground lava (Chapters 345, 391–393).
Appearance and personality
Longform has coppery skin, long silver hair, silver eyes, a broad muscular chest, and a tattoo of three parallel claw-like lines. His presence carries palpable killing intent. He is a calculating and ruthless cultivator who will sacrifice life and cultivation for a chance to seize an opponent’s resources (Chapter 344, 391).
Abilities and cultivation
Longform cultivates the Dao of Tyranny and is an extreme nine-fruit C-Grade. He uses immense physical force, a protective space bubble, and has some capacity to regenerate. When Jack wounds him during their fight, Longform gives up a thousand years of life and one Dao Fruit to draw on a much greater reserve of power. This temporary surge nearly reverses the battle, but leaves him badly damaged; Jack kills him before he can withdraw and recover (Chapters 391–393).
Relationships
- Jack Rust: Longform once inadvertently helped Jack, who recognizes a debt but chooses not to invoke it. Their later conflict becomes lethal during the Cathedral expedition.
- Don Cranxiao: Longform’s cousin and fellow cultivator of the Dao of Tyranny. Their styles differ, but Longform’s status helps explain why Cranxiao can abuse lower-ranked disciples without challenge.
- Min Ling: Their relationship is described as strained; she accepts Jack’s decision to kill Longform rather than let him escape and threaten the Church later (Chapters 391, 394).
