Zi Xin
Zi Xin is a veiled cultivator whom Yunque Zi prepares as the hidden weakness in Qian Feng's dao heart. Her reversal of their cultivation-furnace bond lets her inherit his power after his death, but her later position on the Blood Planet depends on the Blood Ancestor's protection and collapses with his household. (Chapters 430, 466, 708, and 769)
Biography
The Reincarnation Tree expedition
Zi Xin first approaches Wang Lin as a white-veiled woman traveling with Old Man Hu. She possesses a map to a Reincarnation Tree in the Immortal Graveyard and explains that her father once brought her as far as its third floor, although his cultivation was then too weak to continue. Her knowledge makes her the expedition's guide: she identifies its savages as shamans and warriors and uses a jade connected to the hidden tree. The journey also creates her first direct conflict with Wang Lin. He distrusts the information she withheld, and an encounter ultimately throws her into a spatial rift, an injury and humiliation she remembers long afterward. (Chapters 342, 345, 346, 348, and 395)
Yunque Zi's answer to Qian Feng
The expedition is only one part of Yunque Zi's longer design. He selected Zi Xin as his second candidate because Qian Feng had learned the Suzaku Tactic and might either become the next Suzaku or serve as Zhuque Zi's possession vessel. In either outcome, Yunque Zi intended Zi Xin to control him. He gives her the same distinctive straw-hat protection associated with his candidates and repeatedly preserves her because she is meant to become the crack in Qian Feng's dao heart. Qian Feng recognizes the danger and calls her a threat he must kill before leaving Suzaku. Their relationship is nevertheless more entangled than ordinary enmity: Zi Xin becomes his cultivation furnace, while Yunque Zi embeds an unknown reversal within that dependence. (Chapters 395, 430, 435, and 468)
The Suzaku Tomb and reversal
Zi Xin enters the Suzaku Tomb beside Zhou Wutai, proceeding cautiously rather than racing Qian Feng and Liu Mei to the front. A golden-armored guardian exposes and injures the pair when they try to advance beneath the sea. Later, after Wang Lin kills Qian Feng, Zi Xin laughs with accumulated hatred and immediately activates the seal Yunque Zi prepared. Instead of dying with or being consumed by her former master, she draws his cultivation into herself. The transfer gives her Qian Feng's aura and mid-stage Soul Transformation power, revealing that the supposed furnace had been positioned to devour its owner. The gain does not erase her fear of Wang Lin: she threatens him over their old grievance, but retreats as soon as he raises the possibility of accepting the Suzaku title and using its seal against her. (Chapters 460, 466, and 468)
Exile, the Blood Planet, and death
After leaving Suzaku, Zi Xin is expelled from planet Five Elements and hunted by the Heavenly Water Palace. The Blood Ancestor rescues her and makes her his concubine, granting her authority over blood slaves and a one-use jade that can return her to the Blood Planet. Her status remains borrowed rather than secure. When the Blood Ancestor disappears and his imprints begin killing the slaves, his second-step servants reject Zi Xin's commands and openly reduce her to one of his replaceable playthings. She responds by reproducing the hand seals she had secretly memorized to enter the forbidden blood pavilion, showing patience and opportunism even as the household disintegrates. Wang Lin's returning ancient-god body reaches the pavilion first. Zi Xin's attempted intrusion ends in her death, and Wang Lin later uses both her betrayal and the destruction of the Blood Planet to provoke the Blood Ancestor. (Chapters 708, 765, and 769)
Appearance and personality
Zi Xin initially conceals her face behind a white veil and speaks softly, maintaining the guarded presentation of a junior before stronger cultivators. After leaving Suzaku, several shining butterfly-shaped discs are visible on the right side of her forehead; their colored reflections accentuate her beauty. Her conduct is cautious and adaptive. She hesitates before dangerous tests, bows immediately when confronted by overwhelming power, and studies the Blood Ancestor's seals in secret until circumstances make using them worth the risk. Her resentment is equally durable: she remembers Wang Lin casting her into a spatial rift and celebrates Qian Feng's death before taking his cultivation. (Chapters 342, 460, 466, 468, 708, and 765)
Abilities and cultivation
Reversed cultivation-furnace bond
Zi Xin's defining capability is an unnamed spell arranged through Yunque Zi. Qian Feng treats her as a cultivation furnace—a subordinate vessel whose power should benefit its master—but the spell reverses that expected direction at his death. When Qian Feng's soul piece shatters, Zi Xin forms a mysterious seal while puppet cultivators guard her. Rainbow light and an aura identical to Qian Feng's then fill her body. Wang Lin identifies her resulting level as mid-stage Soul Transformation and concludes that she has taken Qian Feng's cultivation. The technique is conditional rather than a general power-stealing art: it depends on the pre-existing furnace bond, Yunque Zi's preparation, and Qian Feng's death. Even Zhou Wutai's inherited memories cannot explain its construction, and Wang Lin assumes that so abnormal a spell must carry an undisclosed lethal flaw. (Chapters 466 and 468)
Soul Transformation cultivation and perception
After the reversal, Zi Xin can release the pressure of a mid-stage Soul Transformation cultivator and spread divine sense through a planet's depths. That realm lets her travel through space with Ascendant blood slaves and gives her confidence that she can kill an early-stage Soul Transformation opponent deprived of his great soul flag. The confidence has practical limits. The prospective Suzaku Seal would still suppress her, and the voice from Wang Lin's ancient-god body injures her attendants and forces her immediate withdrawal. When the collapsing planet's shockwave catches her, she must sacrifice both slaves' origin souls to slow it instead of resisting directly. Her rank therefore makes her formidable within first-step cultivation, not secure against Suzaku authority, second-step servants, or ancient-god force. (Chapters 468 and 708)
Prepared servants, seals, and escape tools
Zi Xin uses preparation to compensate for unequal confrontations. Puppet cultivators emerge around her while she completes the furnace-reversal seal, protecting the vulnerable transfer. On the Blood Planet she commands blood slaves only through the Blood Ancestor's social and soul-imprint system; once his control weakens, that command disappears. She also carries a blood-red jade able to teleport her back to the Blood Planet from any location, but it requires activation time, forcing her slaves to self-destruct while she prepares it. Finally, she learns the blood pavilion's opening sequence by observing the Blood Ancestor over many years and privately rehearsing the hand signs. This imitation can open a passage, yet it grants no ownership of the pavilion and offers no protection from the being already inside. (Chapters 466, 708, and 765)
Relationships
- Wang Lin: Their distrust begins in the Immortal Graveyard, where he demands that she reveal what she knows and later casts her into a spatial rift. He eventually kills Qian Feng, inadvertently enabling her reversal, then frightens her into retreat with the threat of Suzaku authority. His ancient-god body later kills her in the blood pavilion. (Chapters 346, 395, 466, 468, and 765)
- Qian Feng: Qian Feng makes Zi Xin his cultivation furnace and intends to kill her because she threatens his dao heart. Yunque Zi's hidden spell turns that exploitation against him, allowing Zi Xin to inherit his cultivation when Wang Lin kills him. (Chapters 371, 430, 435, 466, and 468)
- Liu Mei: Both are pieces in the competing succession plans surrounding Zhuque Zi and Yunque Zi; Liu Mei advances as Zhuque Zi's successor while Zi Xin is prepared to neutralize Qian Feng. The corpus does not establish a close personal bond between them. (Chapters 430 and 464)
Items
- A map and jade guide Zi Xin's party to the concealed Reincarnation Tree in the Immortal Graveyard. (Chapters 342, 345, and 348)
- A blood-red teleportation jade given by the Blood Ancestor can return her to the Blood Planet from anywhere, but needs time to activate. (Chapter 708)
