Zhou Yi

Zhou Yi is a former Five Elements Sect genius whose absolute devotion to the celestial corpse Qing Shuang transforms his craze domain, carries him into the Ascendant realm, and ultimately makes him the spirit of the Rain Celestial Swords. His generosity and fidelity make him one of the few cultivators Wang Lin remembers with uncomplicated gratitude.

Biography

The celestial corpse

Zhou Yi begins as a talented Five Elements Sect disciple who receives a Rain Cauldron and enters the Rain Celestial Realm. There he discovers the body of Qing Shuang and becomes completely devoted to her, naming her Ting Er. He leaves his sect, accepts the ridicule of being called Corpse Lover, and builds his craze domain around the conviction that no one will take her from him. (Chapters 313–317)

When a Corpse Sect elder steals Qing Shuang's pagoda, Zhou Yi abandons his wounded body and burns his origin soul to recover her. At the edge of death, the burning of his soul completes his comprehension and lets him enter the Ascendant realm. He recognizes that the obsession defining his dao was imposed when he first encountered Qing Shuang, but declares that he would still choose her and has no regrets. (Chapters 315–317)

Knowing he cannot live, Zhou Yi entrusts Qing Shuang's body to Wang Lin. He gives Wang Lin the protective pagoda, his newly formed Ascendant Crystal, and the Corpse Sect elder Sun Tai as a servant. The crystal later saves Wang Lin from the origin flame and helps him break through to Ascendant, making Zhou Yi's final act decisive in Wang Lin's cultivation. (Chapters 317–324 and 599)

Zhou Yi understands before dying that the attachment was not an ordinary shared romance. The obsession arose when he encountered the body, and the responsive “Ting Er” was a trace shaped through that craze rather than the complete original Qing Shuang. He nevertheless refuses to call his life false: even with the imposed origin exposed, the choices, protection, and sacrifice remain his own. (Chapters 315–317 and 1116–1117)

Rain Celestial Sword spirit

Rather than disappear, Zhou Yi is made the spirit of the Rain Celestial Swords. When Qing Shuang's residual soul vanishes from the corpse, he loses the attachment keeping him alive and pursues Ling Tianhou with no concern for his own survival. Ling Tianhou eventually seals him in the Tide Abyss and attempts to refine him into a vessel for an ancient demon. (Chapters 635–638)

Wang Lin enters the seal to repay his debt. Zhou Yi initially refuses rescue because his heart has died, but the return of Qing Shuang's pagoda restores his will. After breaking free, he passes ancient sword intent to Xu Liguo, removes the Rain Celestial Sword's inherited claim so that one sword belongs permanently to Wang Lin, and helps recover the great sword Wealth from the abyss. (Chapters 638–642)

The rescue is not effortless. Ling Tianhou's formation is designed to erase Zhou Yi's remaining consciousness and replace it with an ancient demon, while Zhou Yi's despair makes him cooperate with his own destruction. Wang Lin enters with his origin soul, presents the pagoda as proof that the body still exists, and gives Zhou Yi a reason to resist. Their exchange turns the Ascendant Crystal debt into reciprocal rescue rather than simple gratitude expressed in words. (Chapters 635–642)

Reunion with Qing Shuang

Zhou Yi later appears beside the Celestial Cloud Cultivation Couple and confronts the dangers surrounding Qing Shuang's awakening. Even after she regains consciousness without returning his feelings, his gaze remains gentle and his devotion does not turn into a claim over her choices. (Chapters 1012–1120)

Inside Qing Lin's sea of consciousness, Qing Shuang directly asks whom he is calling Ting Er and threatens to erase him from the sword-spirit position if he continues. Zhou Yi accepts that the awakened woman is not the obsession-born soul-form he remembers. He sits beneath the iceberg she creates in the restored Rain Celestial Realm, guarding without being invited to its summit. The scene establishes the limit of his devotion: it can govern his own conduct but cannot manufacture her memory. (Chapters 1116–1120)

In the cave world's final years, Zhou Yi stays close to Qing Shuang and her father, Qing Lin. He accepts her coldness without regret and chooses to accompany them into reincarnation. Near the end, Wang Lin includes Zhou Yi among the people whose memories will awaken through the Seven Dao Sect after rebirth. (Chapters 1716–1717, 1789, and 2081)

Reincarnation as Qing

On the Immortal Astral Continent, Zhou Yi is reborn as an orphan who names himself Qing. He does not consciously remember his former life, but advances quickly and repeatedly dreams of a white-clothed woman whose face he cannot see. His chosen name and dream preserve the direction of his obsession even when reincarnation hides every factual memory. (Chapter 1924)

The woman beside him is Qing Shuang's reincarnation, Zhou Yiting. Wang Lin has erased her previous-life memories and chooses not to unlock Zhou Yi's, instead leaving him a parable and a pill that can end the dream if he accepts his present companion. Much later Wang Lin sees Zhou Yi's happiness and drinks a cup in place of their wedding wine. The reunion completes Zhou Yi's longing in a new life, while the method and its unfairness to Qing Shuang remain explicit. (Chapters 1924–1925 and 2073)

Appearance and personality

Zhou Yi first appears as a middle-aged man carrying a red gourd. After becoming a sword spirit, he manifests as a luminous or purple spirit body and can reside directly within a celestial sword. (Chapters 313 and 638–640)

His defining trait is uncompromising devotion. It makes him appear mad to outsiders, yet the same quality produces courage, generosity, and unusual honesty. He gives away an Ascendant Crystal that is effectively his life, repays Wang Lin's rescue with multiple inheritances, and never treats Qing Shuang's later indifference as a debt she owes him. (Chapters 315–324, 638–640, and 1789)

Abilities and cultivation

Zhou Yi's power changes form without losing its central principle. As a living cultivator, obsession becomes his craze domain and Ascendant breakthrough; after bodily death, the Rain Celestial Sword gives that same will a weapon-body, celestial sword energy, and a path to continued action.

Craze domain and Ascendant breakthrough

Zhou Yi turns his refusal to surrender Qing Shuang's body into a craze domain. The domain converts sustained obsession into pressure and battle intent, strengthening his projected presence and resisting attempts to take her. When he burns his origin soul and recognizes that his attachment was imposed at the first encounter, he chooses it again without regret. That conscious choice completes the domain and carries him into Ascendant cultivation at the point of death. The power is therefore inseparable from a specific commitment; it is not generalized emotional control. (Chapters 313–317)

His newly formed Ascendant Crystal preserves the completed obsession domain. Given to Wang Lin, it survives the origin flame that threatens Wang Lin's breakthrough, then collapses so its origin crystals can be absorbed into Wang Lin's forming crystal. This is a consumable legacy of Zhou Yi's cultivation, not a crystal he continues to command afterward. (Chapters 317 and 599)

Avatar projection

Before his death, Zhou Yi can project cultivation and domain through Chi Hu's body in the Rain Celestial Realm. The projection gives an otherwise weaker vessel Zhou Yi's battle presence and lets him intervene while his wounded true body remains elsewhere. Its dependence on a host and the strain surrounding his failing body distinguish it from an independent clone or reincarnation. (Chapters 314–315)

Rain Celestial Sword spirit

After becoming the current sword spirit, Zhou Yi commands the Rain Celestial Swords, their life sword energy, and the ancient sword-intent inheritance. His will can move between or coordinate the swords, remove an inherited ownership restriction from the blade he gives Wang Lin, and grant Xu Liguo controlled access to sword intent. Qing Shuang still claims institutional authority to retain or erase the sword spirit, so Zhou Yi's command is powerful but not equivalent to owning the Rain Celestial office itself. (Chapters 638–642 and 1116–1117)

Sword-body speed, force, and limits

In sword form, Zhou Yi crosses the Tide Abyss at extreme speed, carries Wang Lin, and cuts through demonic formations with concentrated celestial sword force. The weapon-body avoids some limits of mortal flesh but creates others: Ling Tianhou can trap him in a formation, suppress his will, and attempt to convert the sword into another spirit's vessel. The celestial pagoda and Wang Lin's intervention restore his sense of purpose, demonstrating that identity and memory remain crucial to using the sword's power. (Chapters 635–642)

• Qing Shuang: Zhou Yi names her Ting Er and devotes his dao to protecting her body. After her awakening, he continues to love her without demanding that she return his feelings. (Chapters 313–324, 1012–1120, and 1716–1789)
• Wang Lin: Zhou Yi entrusts Qing Shuang to Wang Lin and gives him an Ascendant Crystal; Wang Lin later risks his origin soul to rescue Zhou Yi from Ling Tianhou. Their relationship is founded on gratitude repaid in both directions. (Chapters 317–324 and 635–642)
• Qing Lin: Qing Lin is Qing Shuang's father. Zhou Yi ultimately accompanies father and daughter toward reincarnation despite the sorrow of his altered relationship with Qing Shuang. (Chapters 1716–1789)
