Zhou Lin

Zhou Lin is Li Muwan's devoted Cloud Sky Sect disciple and the temporary master Wang Lin acquires while infiltrating the sect. Though their formal teacher-student relationship begins as an exchange for a water-element pill, Zhou gives his apparent novice unusually generous alchemical instruction and later helps him meet Li Muwan in secret. (Chapters 213–222)

Biography

Accepting Wang Lin

Zhou Lin manages a Cloud Sky Sect recruitment session and asks to accept Wang Lin's disguised avatar because Wang obtained a water-element pill useful to his own cultivation. He brings Wang to his herb garden, makes him his first disciple, and then prepares for closed cultivation. Instead of leaving the novice unsupported, Zhou gives him a jade containing decades of alchemical experience, access to the garden, disciple equipment, and pills. (Chapter 213)

The jade is detailed and honest, recording failed refinements as well as recipes. This treatment is striking to Wang after his exploitative experience with Sun Dazhu. Zhou also promises Foundation-solidifying pills as compensation for delaying direct instruction, although Wang's avatar advances far faster than Zhou could anticipate. (Chapters 213–215)

Loyalty to Li Muwan

Li Muwan saved the orphaned Zhou Lin and raised him as her disciple, giving him deep gratitude and loyalty. When she calls him out of seclusion, he learns that Wang is her friend and adjusts awkwardly from treating Wang as a disciple to addressing him as an uncle. He then opens the hidden formation to Li Muwan's secret chamber and stands guard while concealing the meeting from the sect. This is Zhou's final direct appearance. (Chapter 222)

Appearance and personality

Zhou Lin is a middle-aged man. He is respectful toward sect authorities, straightforward with his new disciple, and notably generous with knowledge and materials. His gratitude toward Li Muwan overrides embarrassment and potential risk, although Wang remains cautious enough to place a hidden restriction on him before entering the secret passage. (Chapters 213 and 222)

Abilities and cultivation

Early Core Formation cultivation

Zhou Lin is at early Core Formation. He can fly as rainbow light and conduct closed cultivation to absorb the water-element pill, but no personal combat spell is demonstrated. His cultivation is low enough that he cannot perceive the ancient restrictions used by Wang's disguised avatar. (Chapter 213)

Rank-three alchemy

Zhou Lin can refine pills up to rank three and has accumulated decades of practical notes. His teaching jade emphasizes recipes, failure conditions, and factors that reduce pill quality, making it a meaningful instructional resource even though he begins seclusion before teaching Wang in person. He also maintains a medicinal garden and protects his own large furnace with restrictions. (Chapters 213–215)

Secret-chamber formation

Using three jades beneath a pill furnace and a sequence of seals, Zhou activates a wall formation connected to Li Muwan's concealed chamber. He can open and close the route and monitor the room while pretending to refine pills. The passage is prepared with Li Muwan rather than identified as a formation Zhou independently designed. (Chapter 222)

Relationships

• Wang Lin: Zhou accepts Wang's disguised avatar as his first disciple and gives him extensive alchemical resources. After learning Wang is Li Muwan's friend, he treats him as a senior and arranges their secret meeting. (Chapters 213–222)
• Li Muwan: Li Muwan rescued the orphaned Zhou Lin and became his teacher. He attributes everything he has to her and follows her instructions despite the political danger around her. (Chapters 213–222)
• Cheng Xian: Cheng knows Zhou as a senior in the southern courtyard and envies the access his disciples receive through Li Muwan. No close personal bond is shown. (Chapters 213–215)
