Biography

The Origin Sect's strongest disciple

When the Origin Sect recruits Wang Lin under the mortal identity Ceng Niu, Xu Yun brings him to its herb courtyard. She notices how calmly he accepts an unglamorous assignment, gives him basic cultivation chants, and entrusts him with tending the plants. Her own cultivation is at a precarious threshold: the text places her around Illusory Yin and describes her recent domain progress toward Corporeal Yang. The distinction matters because Lu Yanfei is under mounting pressure after the death of the sect's ancestor, and Xu Yun believes a breakthrough may give her teacher badly needed support. The Soul Parting Death Pill

Xu Yun's first attempt fails and injures her origin soul. Rather than retreat, she swallows a Soul Parting Death Pill, knowing it may kill her. The pill releases the soul of an ape sealed for three thousand years; while her own origin soul burns, she must fight, suppress, and refine the beast before the fire consumes her. She accepts that cost because she would rather gamble her life than watch Lu Yanfei stand alone. Wang Lin secretly freezes the crisis, enters the struggle, crushes the ape soul, and turns its released force into an opportunity for her domain comprehension. Herbs, suspicion, and the hidden grand uncle-master

After recovering, Xu Yun wonders whether Ceng Niu and her white-haired rescuer are connected. She nevertheless teaches him the Cloud Sea's herbs and pill-making conventions in detail. Her patience breaks when his repeated experiments consume almost the entire garden and produce only a rank-three pill; the normally gentle disciple openly demands that he return what he used. When Wang Lin's true standing becomes known within the sect, the herbs are restored and Xu Yun is moved away from the restricted courtyard. Defending teacher and sect

Xu Yun later rushes to aid an injured fellow disciple and attracts Zhou Hai's attention because the scent of fresh Fish Poison Grass remains on her. She cannot resist his cultivation, but Lu Yanfei shields her and invokes the authority of the sect's grand uncle-master. As the Origin Sect approaches dissolution, Lu Yanfei tries to sever their relationship so Xu Yun can become a core disciple elsewhere. Xu Yun refuses through tears. She endures further humiliation when Lu Yingjie threatens the sect and covets her teacher, then watches Lu Yanfei enter a contest that may decide whether their home survives. Appearance and personality

Xu Yun is described as extremely delicate, with a gentle manner that suits her patient care of medicinal plants. That softness is not passivity. She willingly takes a lethal pill, runs toward a stronger enemy to support another disciple, rebukes Wang Lin for wasting years of cultivated herbs, and refuses a safer future purchased by abandoning Lu Yanfei.
