Wang Hao

Wang Hao is Wang Lin's friendly cousin and a Heng Yue helper whose failed cultivation path leaves him outside the family's celebrated prodigy rivalry. (Chapters 2 and 1592)

Biography

Cousins entering cultivation

Wang Hao is Wang Lin's cousin and one of the Wang family's children considered for immortal cultivation. Unlike the proud Wang Zhuo, he treats Wang Lin warmly, congratulates him when he becomes an inner disciple, and slips him pills despite the pill house's restrictions. Limited aptitude leaves Wang Hao as Lu Yunjie's helper, a status between honorary and inner disciple that is effectively servitude. He performs pill-house work and controls daily distributions but owns little authority over his life. His friendship gives Wang Lin an early source of solidarity inside a sect that otherwise mocks him. (Chapters 2–21)

Lu Yunjie's furnace

Lu Yunjie gives Wang Hao the Fire Furnace Trial under the guise of superior cultivation and forces him to consume Qi Gathering pills. The method creates a spiritual vortex that drains organs and life essence; if the cultivator dies at the correct point, the master can refine the body into a pill that extends life and aids breakthrough. Wang Hao discovers the truth but cannot report it because sect rules treat a helper as the master's property and Lu threatens his parents. He asks Wang Lin only for future revenge. Once Wang Lin understands his own strength, he breaks into the pill house, pulls Wang Hao from the furnace, and forces the sect to make him an inner disciple. (Chapters 43–59)

Fall of Heng Yue and the Wang family massacre

When Punnan Zi seizes Heng Yue Mountain, Wang Hao initially plans to return home and protect Wang Lin's parents. Later he and Wang Zhuo witness Teng Huayuan exterminate the Wang family in retaliation for his descendant's death. Wang Hao watches both parents killed and their souls taken, repeatedly tries to rush the Nascent Soul cultivator, and survives only because Wang Zhuo restrains him. The trauma replaces earlier jealousy toward Wang Lin with a shared lifelong purpose: both survivors commit themselves to killing Teng Huayuan. At Liu Mei's request, Punnan Zi accepts Wang Hao into the Xuan Dao Sect, giving him another path to cultivation and revenge. (Chapters 64, 103–118)

Failed Core Formation and memory

Wang Hao never reaches the power required for that revenge. By Wang Lin's return four centuries later, Wang Zhuo reports that he failed to form his core and died. Wang Lin remembers him through a carved likeness and later speaks his name in a dream alongside other people from his earliest cultivation life. His arc remains deliberately limited: a loyal cousin survives exploitation and massacre, receives new instruction, and still dies at an ordinary cultivation bottleneck before seeing the family avenged. Appearance and personality

Wang Hao is introduced as a bright-faced youth. Fire Furnace cultivation later leaves him weak, short of breath, and close to death. He is friendly, resourceful, and generous toward Wang Lin, willing to share pills even when he believes his own life nearly over. Fear and institutional power constrain him more than cowardice: he cannot oppose Lu Yunjie alone, yet tries to charge Teng Huayuan after seeing his parents murdered despite knowing the realm difference. Abilities and cultivation

Fire Furnace Trial

Fire Furnace Trial gathers spiritual energy into a vortex instead of refining the body through ordinary Qi Condensation. As the vortex expands, it drains life essence from the practitioner's organs; only about two in ten survive long enough for it to expand outside the body and approximate Qi Condensation. Wang Hao reaches the first layer and can condense spirit power, but cannot properly use it because the flow follows an abnormal path. Lu Yunjie accelerates the process with multiple daily Qi Gathering pills, intending to refine Wang Hao at death into a pill that grants three years of life and a breakthrough chance. Wang Lin interrupts the furnace and supplies spiritual energy before the process finishes, saving him but not turning the dangerous method into a viable cultivation foundation. Pill-house knowledge and resources

As Lu Yunjie's helper, Wang Hao manages chores, access, and Qi Gathering pill distribution. The position gives him practical knowledge of ingredients and sect transactions but not the autonomy of an inner disciple. He uses that narrow access to help Wang Lin with pills and information, and secretly bribes an archive disciple to identify the Fire Furnace Trial. His resourcefulness reveals the method's purpose, yet the same hierarchy prevents him from stopping it: complaints against a favored alchemist would carry little weight, and the rules define his body as the master's to use. (Chapters 11, 21, and 43–44)

Later cultivation and Core Formation limit

After rescue, Heng Yue promotes Wang Hao to inner disciple, and Punnan Zi later accepts him at Xuan Dao. Those changes remove him from furnace servitude and provide orthodox teaching, but the corpus records no named combat spell or successful high realm. His final established limit is Core Formation: he fails to form a core and dies before Wang Lin returns. The outcome prevents an exaggerated ability profile. Wang Hao's importance lies in surviving an abusive method and continuing to cultivate despite damaged beginnings, not in attaining the revenge-level power he and Wang Zhuo desired.
