Shi Fang is a Da Lou Sword Sect elder who joins an expedition into the Earth Northern Demonic Land for what his party calls Brilliant Golden Fruits. A capable early-stage Soul Transformation sword cultivator, he is also ruthlessly pragmatic: he accepts the use of weaker cultivators as bait, destroys his own juniors when cornered, and offers Qian Qin as material for a healing spell in exchange for his life. Biography

Expedition to the golden-fruit valley

Shi Fang travels with another Soul Transformation elder and several juniors under Qian Qin's guidance. Although the two elders easily destroy the beasts encountered along the way, both feel an oppressive watcher and an abnormal urge to kill. When his companion suggests leaving, Shi Fang judges that they are already close enough to their destination to continue. At the valley he recognizes the Nine Multitude Bugs guarding the golden plants, while the other elder proposes using the weaker members of the expedition as bait. (Chapter 509)

After Qian Qin's senior apprentice brother is thrown to the insects, Shi Fang deploys a red jade and opens its Sword Seal Restriction. Red strands spread from the jade, form a net around the victim and insects, and become a sealing field at his command. He then enters the valley, helps destroy the remaining bugs, and coordinates an immediate attack when Wang Lin appears. His sword technique is broken by Wang Lin, but he continues the battle rather than surrendering. (Chapter 510)

Defeat, possession, and death

Shi Fang commits his origin soul to a small sword engraved with a willow leaf, combining it with his life-saving spell for an all-out attack. A green flame allows the sword to break through space and appear near Wang Lin's forehead, but repeated strikes from the Soul Lasher force Shi Fang's weakened origin soul out. Wang Lin's mosquito beast drains Shi Fang's abandoned body into a corpse before he can return to it. (Chapter 512)

Shi Fang immediately possesses Guo Xingyi and regains awareness with unusual speed. Seeking leverage, he kills two other juniors, offers Wang Lin both a rapid-possession method and a spell that uses a virgin to heal injuries, and identifies Qian Qin as a possible sacrifice. He also gives a guarded account of Ling Tianhou's wounded return from the Celestial Realm and the sword spirit that fought him. After imprinting both methods into a jade, Shi Fang tries to escape in the unstable new body. Wang Lin's grey death energy enters him before he can teleport and destroys the possessed body, killing him. (Chapter 512)

Appearance and personality

Shi Fang is the taller of the expedition's two old Soul Transformation elders. He carries a treasured sword on his back, and his origin soul uses a small sword marked with a willow leaf. Although he initially presents himself as a composed sect elder, his decisions reveal self-preservation and sect profit as his priorities. He tolerates sacrificing juniors for treasure, turns on his own party when defeated, bargains with forbidden methods, withholds information, and attempts to flee as soon as Wang Lin examines the jade. (Chapters 509–512)

Abilities and cultivation

Early-stage Soul Transformation cultivation

Shi Fang is explicitly an early-stage Soul Transformation cultivator. He and his fellow elder can erase ordinary demonic beasts with seals, yet both recognize that the pressure in the Earth Northern Demonic Land is beyond what they can locate with divine sense. His final condition also demonstrates a key limitation: after losing his body and taking a new host, his celestial spiritual energy and teleportation are too unstable to save him. (Chapters 509 and 512)

Sword arts and life-saving sword

Shi Fang can summon the treasured sword on his back and create the illusion of a giant sword behind himself before delivering a descending chop. His strongest displayed attack places his origin soul on a willow-marked small sword behind a wave of sword energy. When driven to desperation, green flame gathers around the sword and lets it break through space, bypassing distance to reappear within inches of its target. The technique is dangerous because it exposes his origin soul: the Soul Lasher directly weakens him and forces him to abandon the attack. (Chapters 510–512)

Sword Seal Restriction

Using a red jade, Shi Fang activates the Sword Seal Restriction. The jade releases numerous red strands that weave into a net around a target and the surrounding ground; his spoken command turns the net into a powerful seal. He uses it to confine the Nine Multitude Bugs after they enter a sacrificial victim, making the remaining swarm manageable. The technique is therefore a prepared containment method rather than an unrestricted offensive attack. (Chapter 510)

Rapid possession and healing method

Shi Fang's origin soul can enter a fresh host and recover conscious control far faster than ordinary possession described in the scene. He demonstrates it on Guo Xingyi immediately after losing his original body, then records the method in a jade that Wang Lin judges to have value. The new body remains weak and poorly integrated, preventing Shi Fang from teleporting before Wang Lin's attack reaches him. Shi Fang also knows a spell that consumes a virgin to heal injuries, but he only records and offers it; the corpus does not show him performing it. (Chapter 512)

Relationships

  • Qian Qin: Qian Qin guides Shi Fang's party to the valley. Once defeated, he identifies her as a virgin and offers her to Wang Lin as material for a healing spell, prompting her to beg Wang Lin to kill him. (Chapters 509 and 512)
  • Wang Lin: Shi Fang attacks Wang Lin with his strongest sword technique, loses both his original body and possessed host to him, and trades cultivation methods and information in an unsuccessful attempt to survive. (Chapters 510–512)
