Master Simo

Master Simo, born Sima Mo, is an early Nirvana Void cultivator whose service to the Sovereign is rooted in the preserved shadow of his dead sister. Sent to hunt Wang Lin, he survives humiliation by the old Vermillion Bird and a duel in the Emperor Furnace, but Wang Lin's Dream Dao exposes the grief and compromise beneath his controlled exterior. Biography

From Sima Mo to the Sovereign's servant

Sima Mo loses his parents young and tries to protect his little sister, Little Lan. After her abuse and suicide, he massacres those responsible and pursues even their reincarnations. He joins the Heaven Breaking Sect, but a seven-colored nail leaves him near death. The Sovereign offers survival and a means to preserve his sister's presence. Sima Mo accepts at the cost of his old loyalties and becomes the subordinate known as Master Simo. (Chapters 1421–1426 and 1586)

Hunt through the Ancient Star System

As one of the third-step cultivators involved in the struggle around Tuo Sen, Master Simo is already associated with the Sovereign's plans. He later forms a fifth Heaven's Blight avatar and follows intelligence supplied by Grandmaster Yun Luo to hunt Wang Lin. Wang Lin's ability to summon the Void Gate without Joss Flames unsettles him because it suggests a path outside the assumptions that support Simo's own third-step authority. Humiliation and challenge

At the Vermillion Bird trial, Simo repeatedly pushes for a challenge and judges Wang Lin as weak. The old Vermillion Bird answers his contempt with ethereal fire and repeated blows; Simo's anger only feeds the flames, forcing him to suppress his own emotions to survive. Instead of withdrawing, he carries that wounded pride into the formal duel and attacks Wang Lin within the Emperor Furnace. (Chapters 1398–1421)

Dream Dao and departure

Simo pierces the furnace with twenty-nine Seven-Colored God Void Nails and invokes a beast bone bearing the Sovereign's palm print. Wang Lin responds with Dream Dao, reaching the female shadow bound to Simo's life and making it speak as Little Lan. The vision exposes why Simo abandoned his sect and why emotional control cannot erase his dependence on the shadow. Wang Lin stops short of refining him completely, and Simo leaves alive. The later phrase describing his “fall” concerns his moral submission in the All-Seer's scheme, not a confirmed death. (Chapters 1421–1426 and 1586)

Appearance and personality

Master Simo's original body appears as a middle-aged man. He is proud, contemptuous, and highly disciplined, capable of suppressing emotion once he realizes anger itself is being weaponized against him. That control conceals rather than resolves his grief. His decisions remain organized around Little Lan's shadow, making the apparent coldness a defense for an attachment he has never released. (Chapters 1311 and 1404–1426)

Abilities and cultivation

Early Nirvana Void cultivation and avatar

Simo's original body is an early Nirvana Void, true third-step cultivator. He can project a fifth Heaven's Blight avatar for distant pursuit, chant a strange dao text, and wield the pressure expected of a third-step expert. The avatar and original must not be conflated: destruction or defeat of the hunting manifestation does not by itself prove the original body died. (Chapters 1311, 1367–1384, and 1421)

Seven-Colored God Void Nails and Sovereign bone

Twenty-nine Seven-Colored God Void Nails can penetrate and destabilize the Emperor Furnace from within. A beast bone holding the Sovereign's palm imprint gives Simo another external source of overwhelming force. Both are powerful but dependent tools: the nails once injured Simo himself, and the Sovereign's gift reinforces the bond that made him a subordinate rather than an independent master. Life-bound shadow and emotional discipline

The white silk and female shadow accompanying Simo preserve Little Lan as memory, spirit, and part of his life. This bond supports his endurance across tens of thousands of years but is also a direct vulnerability. Wang Lin's Dream Dao bypasses conventional defenses by entering the emotional truth of the bond, while ethereal fire turns anger into fuel. Simo can consciously suppress emotion, yet cannot erase the attachment on which his identity depends. (Chapters 1404 and 1421–1426)
