Biography

Service in the Demon Spirit Land

Hai Zhu serves among the Sky Demon City's forces under Vice Commander Mo Fei. When Wang Lin ambushes the group, the Underworld River temporarily arrests Hai Zhu's movements. That interruption prevents him from activating Ling Tianhou's embedded sword energy; Wang Lin's Finger of Death then kills and beheads him. (Chapters 614–615)

Wang Lin refines Hai Zhu's head, devours the strand of sword energy, and searches his damaged origin soul. The search reveals that members of the Twelve Swords each carry one of Ling Tianhou's sword-energy strands and that Greed has been assigned to protect them. Wang Lin subsequently places Hai Zhu's origin soul in a soul flag as a primary soul. (Chapter 615)

Hai Zhu's sword does not disappear with him. Wang Lin later combines its sword spirit with those taken from Zi Shu and Mo Yang, making Hai Zhu's captured weapon part of a stronger composite sword. (Chapters 624 and 627)

Appearance and personality

Hai Zhu appears as a middle-aged man carrying a large sword. The fatal ambush leaves little room for a fuller portrayal of his temperament. (Chapters 614–615)

Abilities and cultivation

Late-stage Soul Transformation

Hai Zhu is a late-stage Soul Transformation cultivator and one of the Da Lou Sword Sect's Twelve Swords. That realm gives him enough speed and awareness to begin reacting when Wang Lin attacks the army, but it is far below Wang Lin's Ascendant cultivation. Wang Lin's Underworld River turns into a reincarnation cycle and imposes a momentary pause just as Hai Zhu tries to release his hidden sword energy. The interruption is sufficient for the Finger of Death to land before Hai Zhu can complete his defense. (Chapters 614–615)

His defeat therefore does not demonstrate an extended exchange at full strength. The combination of a higher cultivation realm, a surprise attack, and the Underworld River's timing prevents Hai Zhu from showing a broader personal spell set. After death, Wang Lin can seal his origin soul effortlessly, search its memories, and reduce the damaged soul to a primary soul in the soul flag. (Chapter 615)

Ling Tianhou's sword-energy strand

Like the other Da Lou Sword Sect disciples sent into the Demon Spirit Land, Hai Zhu carries a strand of Sword Saint Ling Tianhou's sword energy inside his body. It functions as an emergency killing method powerful enough that Wang Lin plans his ambush specifically to deny Hai Zhu the chance to use it. Golden light begins to flash between Hai Zhu's eyebrows at the point of activation, but the Underworld River freezes the decisive moment and the technique never launches. (Chapters 614–615)

The strand is bestowed power rather than a technique Hai Zhu created. After killing him, Wang Lin refines Hai Zhu's head and devours the sword energy for himself. Because the only attempted activation is interrupted, the corpus does not establish the strand's exact range, duration, or effect when successfully released by Hai Zhu. (Chapter 615)

Sword spirit and formation use

Hai Zhu's large sword contains its own sword spirit and belongs to one part of Ling Tianhou's larger sword system. Wang Lin later refines it alongside the swords taken from Zi Shu and Mo Yang. The three sword energies and their owners' mastery combine to activate the Triple Talent Sword Formation; all twelve corresponding swords would instead form Ling Tianhou's Heaven Slaying Twelve Sword Formation. (Chapter 624)

This later capability depends on possessing and refining the complete group of three, so it should not be treated as a formation Hai Zhu demonstrates alone. Under Wang Lin's control, Hai Zhu's sword spirit joins the other two in surrounding and killing a fleeing cultivator. The posthumous use proves that the sword spirit remains an active combat resource after Hai Zhu's death, while ownership and command have passed entirely to Wang Lin. (Chapters 624 and 627)
