Zi Shu

Zi Shu is a Da Lou Sword Sect disciple who becomes a chief commander in the Fire Demon Country. He initially avoids the seemingly mad Ascendant cultivator crossing his path, but greed overcomes caution when Wang Lin appears injured, and the attempted ambush ends in Zi Shu's immediate death. (Chapters 602–603)

Biography

Commander in the Fire Demon Country

Zi Shu is one of Ling Tianhou's Twelve Swords, dispersed across the Demon Spirit Land. After attaining the position of chief commander, he leads thirty thousand demon soldiers toward a meeting with fellow disciples. His peak late Soul Transformation cultivation and the giant sword on his back mark him as the force behind the army. (Chapter 602)

He notices Wang Lin flying overhead in an unstable, bloodthirsty condition and correctly recognizes an Ascendant cultivator. Zi Shu first orders his soldiers to retreat because the stranger's passage drains all life from the land. When Wang Lin coughs blood, however, Zi Shu decides the injuries offer a rare chance to seize an Ascendant cultivator's treasures and refine the origin soul for his sword spirit. (Chapter 602)

Failed ambush and death

Zi Shu orders the soldiers into formation and attacks. Wang Lin responds by closing the distance faster than expected, seizing and throwing away the giant sword, and tapping Zi Shu's shoulder. The Finger of Death withers both body and origin soul into a life seal before Zi Shu can use the emergency sword energy given by Ling Tianhou. The thirty thousand soldiers are slaughtered immediately afterward. (Chapters 602–603)

Months later, Wang Lin returns for the dangerous sword energy still protecting Zi Shu's corpse. He refines the head until the golden energy remains, swallows and masters it, then recovers Zi Shu's discarded sword underground. The dead disciple's two greatest protections consequently become part of Wang Lin's arsenal. (Chapters 612–613)

Appearance and personality

Zi Shu wears blue robes, rides a horse, carries a giant sword across his back, and looks ahead with a cold gaze. His first reaction to an Ascendant cultivator is sensible avoidance, showing that he can judge danger. The sight of blood and apparent weakness then triggers opportunistic greed; he convinces himself that an injured Ascendant's possessions justify the risk and attacks despite his own warning. (Chapter 602)

Abilities and cultivation

• Peak late Soul Transformation: Zi Shu's cultivation is explicitly at the peak of late Soul Transformation. It is enough to command a large demon army, but the realm difference leaves him unable to react meaningfully once Wang Lin attacks at Ascendant speed. (Chapter 602)
• Giant sword: As one of the Twelve Swords, Zi Shu carries a treasured giant sword that contains a spirit and substantial power. He does not complete an attack with it; Wang Lin catches and throws it away before the technique forms. (Chapters 602 and 613)
• Ling Tianhou's sword energy: A ray of Sword Saint Ling Tianhou's energy is sealed between Zi Shu's eyebrows as a life-saving measure. Even after Zi Shu dies, its automatic golden light kills animals and insects within one hundred feet. Zi Shu never activates it in battle because his death is instantaneous. (Chapters 603 and 612–613)
• Army command: Zi Shu can direct thirty thousand Fire Demon soldiers into a formation at a single order. The formation never completes its intended attack because Wang Lin enters the ranks and converts their vitality into life seals. (Chapter 602)
• Posthumous refinement: Once Wang Lin fully refines the inherited sword energy, it can be sent out, recalled, or split into ten equal rays. Those flexible applications belong to Wang Lin's mastery, not to abilities Zi Shu demonstrates while alive. (Chapter 613)

Relationships

• Wang Lin: Zi Shu changes from avoidance to ambush after seeing Wang Lin cough blood. Wang Lin kills him instantly, then later takes and refines both his sword and Ling Tianhou's protective energy. (Chapters 602–603 and 612–613)
• Ling Tianhou: Ling Tianhou is Zi Shu's master, names him among the Twelve Swords, and supplies the sword energy intended to preserve his life. The protection outlives Zi Shu because he cannot invoke it in time. (Chapters 602–603 and 613)

• Giant sword: A treasured sword of the Twelve Swords, containing a sword spirit and capable of joining the Triple Talent Sword Formation after Wang Lin refines it with two related weapons. (Chapters 602, 613, 618, and 624)
