Greed
Greed is a treasure seeker whose supernatural luck repeatedly leads him to extraordinary artifacts and equally extraordinary danger. He survives through escape spells and an enormous reserve of treasures, but encounters with Wang Lin and Grand Empyrean Gemini repeatedly strip him of control over what his luck discovers. Generic uses of “greed” before Chapter 453 do not refer to this character. (Chapters 453, 631–720, 1382–1392, and 1703–1705)
Biography
Sword Sect expedition and the Tide Abyss
Ling Tianhou sends Greed into the Demon Spirit Land as sword energy with the Twelve Swords. He leads Da Lou disciples into the Tide Abyss, where treasure-bearing currents and hostile beasts trap the party for roughly a century. Greed remains cautious and detects distant changes others miss, but his desire for rare artifacts repeatedly keeps him within hazards a less acquisitive cultivator would abandon. (Chapters 453, 520, 595, and 631–648)
He clashes with Zhou Yi, controls a mosquito-beast host through magical needles, and carries artifacts accumulated over tens of thousands of years. A tentacled danger and the Moongazer sequence leave him stranded, injured, and separated from much of that hoard. Wang Lin later obtains the Emperor Furnace and other treasures Greed regards as stolen, establishing the “nemesis” pattern that defines their future meetings. (Chapters 637–720 and 831–839)
Rebuilding in the Fallen Land
Greed reaches the Outer Realm and rebuilds his reputation. He advances from Nirvana Scryer through Nirvana Cleanser to mid Nirvana Shatterer, kills stronger pursuers by revealing hidden treasures, and becomes famous for finding valuable materials on apparently barren worlds. A broken seven-colored statue can instantly kill a Heaven's Blight expert, convincing observers that attacking him risks an unknown reserve. (Chapters 1382–1390)
Wang Lin's reappearance punctures that confidence. Greed remembers the furnace, ancient thunder dragon, Mountain and River Painting, and other losses, and fears Wang Lin more despite his higher realm. Wang Lin takes the statue and searches his memories, using Greed's discovery as a clue to the cave world's larger secrets. (Chapters 1383–1392 and 1437–1561)
Gemini's storyteller
Grand Empyrean Gemini's reincarnated girls trap Greed in the Beast Farm Realm and make “Little Wolf” tell stories for more than a century. During Wang Lin's flight from the Seven-Colored Daoist, they channel Grand Empyrean power through Greed, forcing his body to form a golden sun that drives the enemy away. They then pull him from the cave world to the Immortal Astral Continent. He remains alive in their company, frightened and subjected to childish “rewards,” not the owner of the Grand Empyrean power he displayed. (Chapters 1703–1705 and 1967–1968)
Appearance and personality
In the Fallen Land, Greed appears as an ordinary-looking old man in gorgeous clothing; an unpleasant smell follows the strange cultivation in his body. He is acquisitive, proud when protected by his hoard, and exceptionally cautious. He retaliates against suspicious reactions, escapes early when danger rises, and becomes openly terrified around Wang Lin or Gemini—survival matters more to him than preserving dignity. (Chapters 1382–1390 and 1967–1968)
Abilities and cultivation
Cultivation and escape
Greed advances to mid Nirvana Shatterer in the Fallen Land. His strangest personal spell can multiply speed ninety-sevenfold, letting him escape cultivators who would defeat him in a direct contest. He also cultivates a death-associated or foul-smelling method whose exact mechanics remain unclear. His combat reputation therefore combines a real second-step realm with avoidance rather than straightforward dominance. (Chapters 1382–1390)
Treasure sense and improbable fortune
Wherever Greed travels, he discovers materials and artifacts other cultivators miss, even on abandoned planets. This functions as a repeatable supernatural fortune or treasure sense, not mere gossip, because the pattern repeatedly enriches him. The same gift has a structural limit: finding an artifact does not guarantee understanding, ownership, or safety, and stronger beings repeatedly take the results from him. (Chapters 631–720 and 1382–1392)
Artifact arsenal and Seven Magical Needles
Greed survives stronger opponents by hiding the scale of his treasury until necessary. The broken statue can kill a Heaven's Blight expert, while other treasures injure Nirvana Shatterer pursuers. Seven Magical Needles can control a mosquito king and, through it, a wider beast herd. These feats depend on specific artifacts and preparation; they should not be converted into innate cultivation abilities. (Chapters 631–648, 706–720, and 1382–1390)
Borrowed Grand Empyrean power
The golden sun that repels the Seven-Colored Daoist is created when the Gemini girls press power through Greed and move his hands for him. Its aura belongs to Grand Empyrean Gemini. Greed serves as conduit and survives the transfer, but cannot reproduce the technique independently. This distinction is essential to keeping his later power scale consistent. (Chapters 1703–1705)
