Feng Yushan

Feng Yushan is a young emissary of Suzaku sent to Wang Lin after the end of a ten-year agreement. (Chapter 341)

Biography

First challenge delivery

Feng Yushan comes to Wang Lin's valley under Mount Suzaku's orders to deliver Red Butterfly's challenge. Unable to cross Zhou Yi's pressure, he calls from outside and grows angry when Wang does not answer, invoking Suzaku's authority. An invisible hand immediately restrains him and changes his confidence to fear. He then gives the date and admits that Mount Suzaku supplied Wang's location. (Chapter 341)

Wang refuses the immediate challenge and postpones it for ten years. Feng cannot compel him, but argues respectfully that the unusual number of Mount Suzaku messages concerning Wang suggests great benefits if he participates. He returns to report the postponement without falsifying what happened. (Chapters 341 and 343)

Ten-year appointment

When the agreed date arrives, Feng waits outside the valley for ten days and again delivers the official summons, this time with the respect learned from their first encounter. Wang accepts and enters the prepared transfer formation with him. After arriving in the country of Suzaku, Feng greets a senior disciple and expresses relief that he can finally report successful completion of the mission. (Chapters 359–361)

Appearance and personality

Feng Yushan is a young man, later shown in white robes. He begins proud of the respect afforded to a Mount Suzaku disciple and reacts badly to being ignored, but fear quickly teaches him caution. He remains conscientious enough to report his failure honestly and return a decade later to complete the order. (Chapters 341–343 and 359–361)

Abilities and cultivation

Feng can fly as a ray of light, operate message jades, and travel through Mount Suzaku's transfer arrangements. His exact cultivation realm and any personal combat spell are not stated. The pressure stopping him at the valley and the transfer formation used ten years later belong to stronger cultivators or Mount Suzaku's infrastructure, not to Feng himself. (Chapters 341–343 and 359–361)

Relationships

  • Red Butterfly: Feng serves as the official courier for Red Butterfly's challenge, but no close personal bond with her is shown. (Chapters 341–343 and 359–361)
  • Wang Lin: Feng first tries to pressure Wang with Suzaku's authority, then adopts a respectful approach after Wang restrains him. He ultimately escorts Wang to the delayed duel. (Chapters 341–361)
  • Chi Hu: Chi Hu is involved in the wider Suzaku events around the time of the duel, but the supplied scenes establish no substantive direct relationship with Feng. (Chapters 360–361)
