Ashes' Greatsword

History

Ashes carries an oversized sword suited to her Extraordinary strength and made from God's Stone of Retaliation. During the Charming Beauty's voyage, she uses it against demonic sea creatures large enough to threaten the ship's hull. The weapon accompanies her through later missions as both a massive physical blade and an anti-magic answer to hostile witches. (Chapter 325)

In the ambush against Ursrook, Ashes continues fighting after the operation collapses and the other witches withdraw. When she becomes a Transcendent, her final sword strike releases a blinding golden force that defeats the Magic Slayer. Nothing identifiable remains of Ashes afterward; the search party recovers only the sword's melted remains. (Chapters 1163 and 1167)

Properties and use

The greatsword's size would make it impractical for an ordinary wielder, but Ashes' enhanced strength lets her swing it against large monsters and magical enemies. Its God's Stone material suppresses magic on contact or at close range while retaining the mass and edge of a physical weapon. This pairing allows Ashes to challenge ability users without giving up the direct force on which her fighting style depends. (Chapters 325 and 598)

The blade does not make its wielder invulnerable. It requires close engagement, can be opposed by greater speed or force, and is ultimately melted in the energy released during Ashes' last battle. The corpus gives it no formal name beyond its association with Ashes, so the article uses a descriptive title rather than assigning an unsupported one. (Chapters 1163–1167)
