Flyingbird is an explorer persona used by Thunder.

Biography

A disguise meant to protect a daughter

“Sander Flyingbird” arrives as a flamboyantly dressed explorer from Twin Dragon Island, giving Thunder a way to approach Neverwinter without revealing himself to Lightning. The disguise works because clothing, manner, and practiced behavior redirect attention, though Lightning quickly judges the supposed explorer far below her father's standard. (Chapters 953 and 956)

As Lightning's adulthood approaches, Thunder finds concern for her harder to conceal and admits to Roland that he cannot concentrate on the role. The consequence is not a separate career for Flyingbird but the erosion of a cover identity under personal pressure. (Chapter 1016)

Appearance and personality

Flyingbird wears an ostentatious feather-covered outfit designed to match the “high-flying seabird” name and attract a particular kind of attention. The presentation is deliberately artificial; it should not be treated as Thunder's ordinary appearance or as evidence of a separate person. (Chapter 953)

Magic and abilities

Flyingbird has no independent magic. The persona depends on Thunder's disguise, acting, and explorer knowledge; emotional distraction and close scrutiny by Lightning are explicit weaknesses. (Chapters 953, 956, and 1016)

Relationships
