Biography

Letting grief become a decision to move forward

Watt recognizes Doris by the mole beneath her eye and her childhood nickname, then tells her that her parents and brother died after war and plague displaced their village. The news ends her hope of a direct reunion, but not her concern for the companions who remain. When fear of offending Tilly keeps the group passive, Doris stops Wendy's argument, admits their behavior has been unfair, and backs Azima's decision to work independently; Azima later directs wages to Doris for the group's support.
