Aegis of Judgment

Aegis of Judgment is Aengus Degaro's sentient, shape-changing weapon, created by synthesizing his skeletal dragon sword with a holy elemental sword and later evolved through increasingly powerful materials and a captured god weapon.

History

Holy Dragonian Blade

Before traveling to the Ancient Land, Aengus combines his Skeletal Dragon Sword with the holy elemental sword he receives from Aria. The resulting C-grade Holy Dragonian Blade retains purifying fire while gaining Dragon's Wrath, Holy Purge, and a protective holy aura. Its combination of durability, purification, and fire lets him oppose earth and lava constructs during the expedition rather than serving only as an anti-demon weapon. (Chapters 42, 47, and 49)

A sentient weapon

Repeated synthesis raises the blade to B-grade, the point at which it can communicate with its user. When it hums for recognition, Aengus names it Aegis of Judgment, and Aegis answers him directly. The exchange establishes that the weapon has awareness and preferences of its own even though Aengus remains its principal wielder and controls the materials used in later upgrades. (Chapter 122)

God-Slayer Aegis

After Aengus captures the Beast God's SSS-grade scepter, he offers the power to Aegis and explicitly lets the sword control the final synthesized form. The fusion produces God-Slayer Aegis, an SSS-grade weapon able to change shape and size, amplify its wielder, pursue targets after being thrown, and channel annihilating or divine attacks. Aengus subsequently uses its scepter form to shatter a fusion sword, multiplies Sacred Kirin healing through its divine boost, and carries it through imperial and Source-level battles. (Chapters 211–212, 232, 242, and 253)

Abilities and properties

  • The Holy Dragonian Blade combines holy fire with draconic offense: Holy Purge damages demonic or undead targets while slightly healing the wielder, and Dragon's Wrath produces sustained burning. (Chapter 42)
  • Sentience emerges after the blade reaches B-grade. Aegis can speak, signal desire, and participate in decisions about its evolution, although the corpus does not define the full limits of its independent movement. (Chapter 122)
  • The SSS-grade form can alter its form, size, weight, and power; demonstrated forms include a scepter and very large battlefield weapons. (Chapters 212, 232, and 253)
  • Divine Boost magnifies an ability used through Aegis. Aengus applies the effect repeatedly to strengthen healing, showing that the weapon can support restoration as well as destruction. (Chapter 242)
  • Its later attacks interact with Aengus's Creation and Ruination energies. The exact upper limit is not quantified, but Aegis remains usable in the conflict beyond Creation. (Chapters 445 and 462–465)
