Aegis

Aegis is a sentient holy weapon who chooses the name Aegis of Judgment and becomes Aengus Degaro's enduring battle companion. Although Aengus wields, carries, stores, and repeatedly upgrades Aegis's artifact body, Aegis has a voice, preferences, and loyalties of its own; the weapon's service is therefore a relationship between a conscious being and its bonded wielder, not mere ownership of an inert possession. Biography

A blade gains a voice

Aegis first speaks after the awakened Lord's Blade of Judgement reaches B grade, when sentience allows the holy blade to communicate telepathically with its user. The blade actively asks Aengus for a name and hums assent before accepting “Aegis of Judgment,” answering with clear pleasure. Their bond does not erase Aegis's will: the blade obeys when Aengus drops it as a test for Donna, but later roars in frustration when he confines it within a lifeless spatial bracelet. Its ability to judge loyalty also shapes whom it permits to handle its body, as Bella's effortless use suggests that Aegis acknowledges her presence. (Chapters 122–123)

That early desire for recognition grows into an eager companionship centered on being useful in the world rather than left in storage. Aegis hums with childlike joy when Aengus draws the sheathed blade before a dangerous expedition, then thanks him after rare metals and holy swords raise its artifact body to S rank and welcomes the newly sentient dagger Nia as a friend. Its decisive transformation follows Aengus's capture of the Beast God's SSS-grade scepter: Aengus removes the former ownership mark and merges the god weapon into Aegis while granting the sentient blade control of the result, and Aegis responds with delighted resolve to use the added power in his service. The resulting God-Slayer Aegis gains shape-changing, pursuit, annihilation, and amplification functions, making Aengus the wielder and custodian of a stronger artifact body while the consciousness directing it remains Aegis's own. Weapon and companion of the emperor

As Aengus rises toward imperial rule, Aegis becomes the adaptable instrument through which he applies overwhelming force. The sentient weapon assumes a scepter form to shatter a fused divine sword, supplies divine power that multiplies Sacred Kirin's Healing enough to restore Ashter's consciousness, and later changes into an enormous axe during an assault on enemy warships. These effects depend on Aengus drawing, shaping, and wielding Aegis, yet the weapon's mutable body makes those choices possible and lets the partnership serve destructive, defensive, and restorative purposes rather than a single fixed combat role. Aegis also stays beside Aengus when his opponents and scale of battle surpass the conflicts that produced the weapon. Its body intercepts Emperor Kairos's blow before it can reach Aria, channels Aengus's Chaotic Maelstrom against the Sky Phoenix Empress, and expands with his dragon form when the Moon God Artemes tries to claim it. These encounters establish both durability and limits: Aegis can scale with its wielder and survive clashes among transcendent powers, but it does not independently erase the gap between Aengus and a stronger god, so his other skills, physical transformations, and tactical decisions remain essential. Ruination beyond Creation

Further synthesis with Primal Realm weapons and materials changes Aegis into a Divine-grade black-and-white spear whose chaotic aura evokes both creation and destruction. The same consciousness subsequently inhabits radically different battle forms: a colossal greatsword large enough to pierce a planet, a stellar-scale divine blade, and a defensive weapon that withstands Aria's Creation-powered assault even though the impact throws Aengus backward. In these wars Aegis increasingly functions as the stable, shape-changing focus through which its wielder delivers power across planetary and galactic scales, rather than as a conventional sword constrained to its original body. By the final struggle, Aegis has been synthesized with Ruination essence and is identified as a Reality-level weapon. Aengus wraps the spear in Ruination to break otherwise invincible defenses, then channels the laws, authorities, and concepts of Creation through Aegis while adding Ruination Energy against the Originator. The resulting attacks can destroy the Originator's manifested body when Raizel's antimagic suppresses its absolute powers, but they cannot stop the enemy from reconstructing itself. Aegis remains active in Aengus's hands through repeated exchanges, its latest demonstrated role being the conscious weapon-body that bears incompatible cosmic forces without itself being identified with their source. Appearance and personality

Aegis begins as a sharp holy blade whose exposed radiance is so conspicuous that Aengus seeks a scabbard to conceal it. The weapon can move back into his hand, rejects a disloyal touch with burning force, and later gains unrestricted control over size, form, weight, and power after merging with the Beast God's scepter. Its recorded forms include a blade, scepter, axe, colossal greatsword, and, after Primal Realm upgrades, a black-and-white spear flickering with chaotic creation-and-destruction energy. The voice associated with Aegis is repeatedly childlike, expressive, and eager. It asks to be named, shows pleasure at receiving an identity, celebrates being wielded, resents confinement in empty storage, welcomes Nia's awakening, and speaks enthusiastically about becoming stronger enough to help Aengus. Loyalty is central to that temperament, but it is chosen and voiced rather than silent possession: Aegis can acknowledge another handler such as Bella Bellfrost, while its primary devotion remains with the master it recognizes. Skills, laws, and abilities

Aegis's powers arise from successive syntheses of its artifact body. Its original holy judgment suite remains present after later upgrades, while merging with the Beast God's scepter adds physical transformation, pursuit, annihilation, and divine amplification. At the corpus endpoint, Aegis is also durable enough to serve as a conduit for powers that originate in Aengus—including Chaos, Creation, and Ruination—without those wielder-derived energies being presented as Aegis's independent laws. Sentience, judgment, and recognition

Reaching B grade awakens Aegis's capacity for telepathic speech, allowing it to request a name, answer Aengus, express emotion, and communicate alongside another sentient weapon. Its holy nature also evaluates moral and relational qualities: Aegis burns Donna when her loyalty is compromised, returns to Aengus at his gesture, and can sense loyalty and hidden motives when Bella handles it without suffering from the weapon's weight or aura. The exact mechanism of this recognition is not explained, and Aegis cannot always overcome Aengus's custody decisions, as shown when it protests but cannot prevent storage in the spatial bracelet. Holy judgment powers

Divine Retribution calls heavenly light against targets guilty of grievous wrongdoing and scales its damage with corruption. Holy Purge releases radiant energy across a large area, harming demons, undead, and other malevolent beings while healing righteous targets and allies. Judgment Strike concentrates divine power into one blow that inflicts holy damage and paralyzes the judged target. These descriptions establish targeting and effects, but the corpus does not provide precise cooldowns, durations, or a complete account of how Aegis personally chooses guilt; the powers remain listed after the SSS-grade evolution. The blade's holiness also has practical support applications beyond direct judgment. Even while sheathed, it emits faint purifying energy, and at God-Slayer grade it can supply divine power to amplify a wielder's compatible skill. Aengus invokes that amplification five times while using Sacred Kirin's Healing on Ashter, enabling the healing energy to restore his damaged soul and consciousness. This is a demonstrated interaction between Aegis and Aengus's skill rather than proof that Aegis independently possesses general healing; no separate range or recovery limit is stated. Shape-changing god-weapon body

After absorbing the Beast God's scepter, Aegis can alter its size, form, weight, and power. The weapon becomes a scepter for crushing a fused sword, an axe large enough to destroy a Disaster-class warship, a mountain-scale greatsword for planetary devastation, and a spear that expands with Aengus's cosmic body. Absolute Command Throw is described as pursuing a target wherever that target hides, while Arcane Annihilation Throw produces a single Annihilation Energy attack. At SSS grade, Aegis has a recorded base attack power of 10,000 and durability of 12,000. Divine Boost can raise the user's base statistics by as much as five times, including while the user is transformed; Aengus later activates the boost while gripping Aegis in his dragon claws. The stated ceiling is “up to” fivefold, so the effect should not be treated as an unconditional constant, and its benefits belong to the active wielder rather than converting Aegis into the source of all the wielder's other physical or transformed capabilities. Conduit for Chaos, Creation, and Ruination

Aegis can bear and project energies supplied by Aengus. He channels Annihilation Energy through the blade against Kairos, unleashes the Chaos-based Chaotic Maelstrom through it against the Phoenix Empress, and later scales Aegis to planetary and stellar proportions for attacks driven by his own physical power and skills. These examples show strong compatibility between the weapon-body and external energies, but they do not establish that Aegis independently learned those skills or created their power sources. Its role is to survive, focus, and deliver what the wielder invokes. (Chapters 256, 309, 419, and 421)

Aegis's conduit function reaches its latest state when synthesis with Ruination essence makes it a Reality-level weapon. Ruination can coat the spear to breach otherwise invincible defenses, while Aengus can call the full power of Creation through Aegis and combine it with Ruination for a Point Break attack. With Raizel's antimagic disabling the Originator's absolute defenses, the attack destroys the enemy's current body; once those defenses or reconstruction return, repeated strikes remain unable to secure permanent victory.
