Valen Aurelius

Valen Aurelius is a young Hero of Light trained by Elyon. Convinced that his light-sensing heart identifies a demonic threat, he ambushes Aengus Degaro, loses his defining Holy Light power, and later attempts to rebuild himself through Divine Essence. (Chapters 163–165, 236, and 286–288)

Biography

Valen, Hero Class (Light) to Aria’s Possessiveness

At twenty, Valen treated the darkness detected by Heart of Light as sufficient reason to attack Aengus, framing lethal force as his duty to humanity. He crossed the distance in an instant and used several light techniques, but Aengus survived, defeated him with Hellfire-infused wounds, and removed Heart of Light. Valen refused to beg and declared that becoming a hero had ended his fear of death; Elyon rescued him, though the theft left his Holy Light powers absent. Elyon later pressed the accusation before the trial authorities, but independent examination did not establish Aengus as a demon and the confrontation dispersed. Valen survived with conviction intact, yet his certainty cost him both victory and the power on which that certainty depended. (Chapters 163–186)

Saintess Lumenaria

Valen next appears beside Elyon inside the cathedral, watching with concern when his master emerges from meditation in pain and warns that calamity is approaching. He responds as a worried disciple rather than an independent commander, asking what Elyon has perceived and remaining within the church's preparations. The scene confirms his continuing place as Elyon's heir after losing Heart of Light, but it does not show that his original class, stolen skill, or full Holy Light arsenal has already returned. Successfull Impersonation to A Small Rescue

Valen later meditates beside a protected pond of Divine Essence, visibly absorbing its power in an effort to strengthen or restore himself. His progress is inherently slow: a mortal body would require months or years to absorb even a fraction and might fail under the energy's strain. Aengus infiltrates the chamber disguised as Lumenaria, consumes the reserve at a radically greater rate, and leaves Valen unconscious during the resulting crisis. Elyon and the real saintess carry Valen out before Aengus's strike destroys the chamber, preserving his life but leaving the extent of any recovery unconfirmed. (Chapters 286–288)

Appearance and personality

Valen is a handsome twenty-year-old in white clothing, carrying a Holy Sword and surrounded by a valiant aura. His frown and killing intent make his beauty secondary to an uncompromising martial presence. He is earnest, brave, and sincerely committed to protecting humanity, but also absolutist: he attacks on the Heart's warning without inquiry. With Elyon and Lumenaria he is respectful and concerned, suggesting that his aggression is tied to doctrine and perceived duty rather than indiscriminate cruelty. (Chapters 163–164, 236, 286)

Skills, laws, and abilities

At appraisal, Valen is level 47 with the Hero (Light) class. Light Speed Dash (C) closes distance almost instantly; Radiant Strike (C) releases a destructive beam that tears through trees and ground; Blessing of Light (C) forms radiant protection and enhances his condition; and Divine Fury (C) floods him with light, amplifying strength enough to evaporate dark restraints. He also possesses Domain of Purification (C) and Light of Judgment (C), but their distinct mechanics are not demonstrated in the cited fight. (Chapter 163)

Heart of Light (B) detects concealed darkness and sustains Valen's Holy Light affinity, but detection does not prove motive or moral guilt: it alerts him to Aengus's demonic power while leading him into a mistaken assumption of immediate authority to kill. Aengus can extract the Heart, after which reports say Valen's light powers vanish. His later Divine Essence absorption demonstrates a recovery method, not confirmed restoration of the exact stolen skill, and its speed is sharply limited by mortal endurance.
