Mithril Slave Collar

The Mithril Slave Collar, formally appraised as the Collar of Wisteria, is an ornate runic collar forged by an Elven master. It first binds William to Celine, but later becomes both a defense against enslavement and a personal token worn by Sidonie. (Chapters 58, 449, 515)

History

Celine's collar

The Wisteria family originally used the collar on Celine because they feared her dark power. Celine later placed the same collar on William as part punishment and part protection; its runes enslaved him to her for four years. After that term ended, William continued to wear the powerless binding as an accessory and reminder. (Chapters 58, 160, 215)

Sidonie's token

After learning the collar's deeper functions, William could pass it to another wearer. Sidonie persuaded him to place it on her so he could restrain her Sin of Lust if needed; she also treated it as a wedding token and proof of belonging to him. (Chapters 449, 515, 677)

Abilities and properties

• Its initial appraisal says the runes bind the wearer to Celine for four years, raise curse resistance by 50%, and prevent removal by anyone except Celine. (Chapter 58)
• The collar compels truthful obedience under its active enslavement. William cannot lie when required to report the attack on Lont. (Chapter 60)
• Repeated wear produces immunity to later enslavement magic. It can also dispel enslavement imposed by other collars or similar artifacts. (Chapters 449, 558)
• Other disclosed functions are awakening latent light or darkness, letting the last wearer pass the collar to a new slave, and granting access to specified Wisteria Clan sites. Four of its nine functions remain undisclosed. (Chapter 449)
• Rule Breaker is usable only once every five years and carries an explicitly “steep” price, though the corpus does not quantify that price. (Chapter 73)
