Celine

Celine is a Dark Sorceress, researcher, and one of the most important teachers in William's life. Introduced as an exacting magical expert in Lont, she combines formidable Dark Magic with alchemy, cursecraft, and an investigator's appetite for dangerous knowledge. Her methods are often coercive and frightening, but the story steadily exposes the protective purpose beneath them: she wants William strong enough to survive a world that will not spare him. That master–disciple bond eventually becomes a chosen romantic and familial partnership.

Her other defining conflict is the prophecy naming her a Bride of Darkness. Celine refuses to let that role determine whom she loves or what kind of life she will have. Her struggle against the Heir of Darkness, her awakening of the Divinity of Wrath, and the birth of her son transform vengeance into a fierce commitment to protect her family and their future.

Biography

A ruthless apprenticeship in Lont

Celine first tests William in Lont while presenting herself as a beautiful but intimidating Dark Sorceress with a grimoire and little patience for weakness. When he successfully forms a Seed of Darkness from contact with that grimoire, she honors their wager and accepts him as her disciple. She immediately warns him that the path of a Dark Mage is harsh, then begins teaching him the way she understands survival: through discipline, exposure to danger, and consequences that cannot be ignored. Her concern for the village is equally practical. Even while exhausted by an interrupted experiment and a lack of food, she flies out to help defend Lont from a monster incursion rather than remain safely in her laboratory. (Chapters 47–54)

Her harshest lesson is the Mithril Slave Collar, which she places on William after he destroys rare experimental materials. For four years, the collar formalizes her authority while she subjects him to repeated curse and poison conditioning. The training is abusive by ordinary standards, yet it is controlled rather than careless: healers and assistants monitor him, and its lasting result is the resistance that later lets him survive hostile magic. When the term ends, Celine offers to remove the collar. William instead keeps it as the first gift he received from his master, showing how completely their bond has outgrown its coercive beginning. Celine's later use of Synchronization to enter his Sea of Consciousness also reveals her restraint; when she sees the damage his missions have caused, she comforts him and supports his recovery rather than demanding more. Defying the Bride of Darkness

During the continental crisis, Celine protects Lont while many stronger combatants are incapacitated. Her prior oath to the Organization shields her from the crystal curse, but she refuses to treat that immunity as permission to abandon the people William loves. She reinforces the town, entrusts Oliver with watching over William, and admits that teaching him has become more important than the vengeance that first drew her to the Organization. She later joins William's wider domain, contributes research and battlefield alchemy, and fights beside Oliver with her Deathscythe. Her judgment remains pragmatic: she rejects removing Oliver's limiter when the cost would be his shortened life, and a serum she develops gives soldiers temporary power only at the terrible cost of disintegration after one week. The Bride of Darkness prophecy finally forces Celine to choose between an imposed destiny and the life she wants. She seeks Baba Yaga, confronts the call drawing Dark Magic users toward the Heir, and prepares to kill that Heir even if doing so costs her life. Her relationship with William deepens because she decides not to surrender her future to prophecy; choosing to bear his child is an act of defiance as much as love. When Felix threatens William's wives, Celine unseals Wrath, manifests six pairs of black wings, and uses dark flames powerful enough to break through the control of the Mark of Darkness. Ahriman defeats her, however, and the God of Death then carries her through a portal to the Underworld while she is pregnant. William later rescues her from the Tower of Wrath. Motherhood gives her a purpose beyond revenge: after the birth of Ciel, she learns to direct Wrath only at enemies, reconciles with her twin Celeste, fights in the final war, and survives to raise her son with William. Appearance and personality

Celine initially appears to be a woman in her mid-twenties, with long purple hair, purple eyes, gold-rimmed glasses, and an elegant purple dress. She later wears close-fitting black battle armor when fighting with her Deathscythe. Her youthful appearance belies extensive magical knowledge and a history reaching far beyond William's childhood. (Chapters 47, 489, and 1035–1036)

She is brilliant, proud, and intensely research-driven. Interrupted experiments and wasted materials provoke genuine fury, and she is comfortable using fear, pain, and humiliation as teaching tools. At the same time, she calculates risks closely and repeatedly places herself between her people and threats she cannot easily defeat. Celine is reluctant to name tender feelings aloud, preferring actions, instruction, or sarcasm. Her protectiveness toward William, Oliver, and eventually Ciel exposes the loyalty beneath that reserve. Her later control of Wrath reflects the same development: anger remains part of her, but it becomes a weapon she governs for the sake of others. (Chapters 52–60, 110–117, 1035–1037, and 1428–1441)

• Dark Sorcery: Celine is an expert Dark Sorceress whose grimoire can help a compatible student form the rare Seed of Darkness. Her arsenal includes flight, binding and curse magic, the Deathscythe, and Finger of Death. The last technique is not an assured execution: against a Millennial Beast, it has only a one-percent chance to kill instantly. (Chapters 47–54, 75, and 489)
• Cursecraft, poison resistance, and alchemy: Years of research let Celine formulate poisons, serums, and resistance training. Her Super Soldier serum demonstrates both her ingenuity and her ruthlessness, but its one-week lifespan and fatal aftermath make it an emergency weapon rather than a sustainable enhancement. • Synchronization: By touching foreheads, Celine can synchronize with William and enter his Sea of Consciousness. It is chiefly a means of diagnosis, instruction, and emotional contact; it does not erase trauma or substitute for recovery. (Chapters 100 and 110–113)
• Eternity: Celine possesses a time-altering artifact that lets its occupants experience days while far less time passes outside. It gives her a protected space for training and preparation, but it only delays the supernatural call of the Heir of Darkness rather than curing it. (Chapters 106 and 1034–1049)
• Divinity of Wrath: When unsealed, Wrath gives Celine black wings, vast dark flames, and the force to overwhelm a powerful bearer of the Mark of Darkness. Its first awakening is driven by uncontrolled rage, and Ahriman still defeats her. After childbirth she achieves precise control, preventing the flames from harming allies, yet even then her attacks do little lasting damage to a true God such as Surtr. • William: Celine begins as William's master and legal owner under the collar, becomes one of his most trusted protectors, and eventually accepts him as her partner and husband. Their relationship is built on difficult instruction, mutual rescue, and their shared choice to reject the prophecy's script. They are Ciel's parents. (Chapters 47–117, 1034–1037, 1311–1313, and 1414–1465)
• Celeste: Celeste is Celine's twin and another woman caught in the Bride of Darkness prophecy. Their separation and different responses to that fate create tension, but they reconcile after Ciel's birth and begin rebuilding their relationship as sisters. (Chapters 951–953, 1353, and 1428)
• Oliver: Oliver is Celine's loyal familiar and battlefield companion. She trusts him with William's safety and refuses to purchase victory with his remaining lifespan, while he repeatedly stands beside her in war. (Chapters 326, 489–500, and 1441)
• Baba Yaga: Baba Yaga is Celine's master and maternal figure. Celine seeks her counsel before confronting the Bride prophecy, and the two later fight together in the final war. (Chapters 951–953, 1030, and 1441)
