Morax
Morax is a powerful patron of hostile forces in the Deadlands and later a commander aligned with Surtr. His promises embolden Swiper's early ambitions, but his own campaign ends in defeat at William's hands.
Biography
The Giant Army's defeated commander
Morax first appears as the hidden power whom Swiper expects to make resistance by the Shelters futile. After surviving earlier events and joining Surtr, he returns at the head of a Giant Army. William recognizes him as a former enemy, fights him, throws him into a near-bottomless pit, and fishes him back out alive while Morax continues threatening retaliation. Three days after the defeat, the Giant Army's offensive has been broken; the sparse record does not establish an independent recovery or later command by Morax. (Chapters 806, 873, 1203–1210, 1400)
Appearance and personality
The selected evidence identifies Morax as a familiar enemy and powerful commander but does not give a reliable detailed appearance. He is domineering, vindictive, and confident in institutional force even after personal defeat. (Chapters 806, 1203–1206)
