Eve

Eve Von Ainsworth is William's younger cousin, an unusually gifted spiritual practitioner who grows from Lont's protected child into an Oracle-trained High Priestess. Ariadne teaches her, David chooses her as his priestess, and Ahriman later forces a divided claim over her spiritual power through the Necklace of Darkness. Eve survives that exploitation and becomes a respected religious leader in William's empire rather than remaining a passive divine asset. Biography

Lont's cherished child becomes a priestess

Eve is introduced as Anna's infant daughter and immediately becomes the object of affectionate rivalry between William and James. William insists that she call him Big Brother rather than uncle, spends time with her whenever training permits, and repeatedly withdraws or returns to Lont when her safety is at risk. As she grows, Eve marches through the Ainsworth garden with seven ducklings and a white goose, retaining a cheerful childhood even while wars make her family intensely protective. (Chapters 97–186, 261–380, and 432)

Her spiritual talent leads to Oracle training under Ariadne. Eve travels with her teacher and Minotaur guardians on a pilgrimage to thirteen temples, intended to make her an official priestess of the God of Shepherds. Pseudo-Gods ambush the party, and Ahriman exploits the crisis by placing the Necklace of Darkness on Eve and claiming half of her spiritual power. David secures an oath that Ahriman will never harm her, but removing the necklace would destroy her sanity, leaving her involuntarily shared between two gods. By the closing period she has endured the Central Continent war and serves as the widely respected High Priestess of the Ainsworth Empire, formally representing the God of Shepherds and the God of All Trades. Appearance and personality

Eve has clear blue eyes and long red hair, worn in a ponytail as a child and reaching her waist by the time of her abduction. As a teenager she is considered beautiful and receives political and romantic attention, but war and forced priesthood leave her far less naive than suitors assume. She remains warm, respectful, and family-oriented while recognizing manipulation and relying on trusted guardians when persistence turns threatening. (Chapters 97, 982, 1104, and 1468–1469)

Skills, classes, and divinities

Eve possesses exceptional Spiritual Power, sufficient to attract both David and Ahriman as patron gods and to channel faith on their behalf. She trains as an Oracle under Ariadne and completes a temple pilgrimage, but the corpus does not provide a spell list, System class level, or demonstrated combat technique of her own. Her religious influence is therefore established more clearly than her direct fighting strength. (Chapters 684–868, 982, and 1104)

The Necklace of Darkness makes Eve Ahriman's follower and divides control of her spiritual power, with David retaining one half and Ahriman the other. This bond is coercive, not a voluntary change of allegiance, and even divine intervention cannot simply remove the necklace without causing insanity. Ahriman's true-name oath prevents him from harming her directly or indirectly, providing protection while leaving the unwanted bond intact. (Chapter 1104)

As the later High Priestess of the Ainsworth Empire, Eve represents two of its patron gods and is loved by the Demon population. The Six-Eared Macaque protects her and can monitor hostile intentions, but his Pseudo-God powers are not Eve's abilities. Likewise, the ducklings and goose defend her socially and physically without establishing a formal Familiar or Shepherd bond in the supplied evidence. (Chapters 1216, 1290, 1407, and 1468)

Relationships

• William: William treats Eve as a beloved younger sister despite their cousin relationship, protects her from danger, and remains aggressively cautious about her future suitors. Eve continues calling him Big Brother. (Chapters 97–186, 342, 982, 1407, and 1468–1469)
• James: James is Eve's grandfather and spoils her from infancy. He and William share an overprotective attitude toward anyone seeking to court her. (Chapters 97, 638, 684, and 1469)
• Ariadne: Ariadne is Eve's Oracle teacher and pilgrimage guardian. She risks her life trying to prevent Eve's abduction and remains her strict but caring master after the war. (Chapters 684–868, 982, 1104, and 1468)
• David: David chooses Eve as his High Priestess, descends to rescue her, and forces Ahriman to swear that she will not be harmed. His mark and Celestial Robe affirm his continuing claim over half her spiritual power. (Chapter 1104)
• Ahriman: Ahriman forcibly binds Eve with the Necklace of Darkness because he covets her spiritual ability to gather faith. The resulting shared priesthood cannot safely be removed, although his oath limits how he can treat her. (Chapter 1104)
• Six-Eared Macaque: The Macaque becomes Eve's constant Pseudo-God guardian, monitors threats, rescues allies, and discourages predatory suitors. (Chapters 1216, 1290, 1407, and 1468)
