Ariadne

Ariadne is the Oracle of the Minotaurs and Eve's mentor. She guides her people with glimpses of possible futures while preparing Eve for a priestly path that reaches completion in the epilogue. (Chapters 494, 573, 982, and 1468)

Biography

Oracle, healer, and mentor

Minos consults Ariadne about a possible future, though her role as Oracle does not allow every vision to be shared freely. She treats Eve with open affection and later leads the pilgrimage intended to make her student a priestess. Ariadne is injured during the conflict but heals herself and is rescued alongside Icarus and Daedalus. In quieter times she helps make buns, and the epilogue confirms the consequence of her long instruction when Eve bows to her master after completing her studies. Appearance and personality

William associates Ariadne with a troubling inability to remember a face, also linked in his thoughts to Cathy, but the selected evidence does not explain the resemblance or establish their identity. Ariadne is affectionate toward Eve, patient as a mentor, and resilient under injury. (Chapters 573, 868, 871, and 1104)
