Conan
Conan is William's black-haired Devil Familiar and the defensive counterpart to Elliot. Born from part of William's soul, he hides loyalty and courage beneath boastful laughter, repeatedly placing himself between stronger enemies and his friends. His final sacrifice helps others escape the Heir of Darkness, but also tears away part of William's soul and memories. (Chapters 660, 754–757, 926–928, 1082, 1113, and 1283–1383)
Biography
A boastful defender who keeps his promises
William names the newly created Devil Familiar Conan, meaning “Little Wolf,” after which the System identifies him as a high-vitality defensive specialist. Conan travels and trains with Elliot, supports William's missions, and befriends Aila. When a Dryad of Myriad rank paralyzes an academy party, he unlocks seventy percent of his power and holds the creature back despite reaching only the peak of Centennial rank. His shields fail under the enormous disparity and his body is torn apart, but he continues protecting the others until William arrives; he dies satisfied that his friends are safe and later returns to service as a Familiar. Conan subsequently joins William and Elliot in Familiar Fusion against divine-scale enemies, contributing defense while retaining his own voice within the merged state. During the Demon Continent crisis he remains a friend and messenger as well as a combatant, and his final words to Aila affirm that he has kept a promise before placing the rest in her hands. This second death is lasting: losing Conan and Elliot destroys half of William's soul and takes memories with it, while Conan's soul is later kept in a black Soul Crystal inside William's world. Later recollections of the trio's drinking party describe their earlier companionship, not a bodily resurrection after the sacrifice. (Chapters 926–928, 955, 1082–1113, 1283, 1324, 1383, and 1467)
Appearance and personality
Conan initially appears as a tiny Devil with short black hair and green eyes, sharing William's face because he is formed from William's soul. At seventy percent power he takes the form of a black-haired boy resembling twelve-year-old William and wields a deathscythe. He is loud, mischievous, and fond of calling himself “the great Conan,” but the bravado covers fear rather than eliminating it; even while terrified, he refuses to abandon people who cannot defend themselves. Skills, classes, and divinities
Conan is a Familiar rather than a conventional adventurer with an independent job-class tree. His original profile emphasizes Vitality and records Iron Wall, Rotating Elemental Shields, Fortress Disciple, Calculus, and Wingman. Iron Wall absorbs damage up to his maximum health before breaking, while the three rotating shields use the same health-based capacity. Fortress Disciple increases defensive abilities by twenty percent, Calculus supports battlefield calculation, and Wingman raises statistics and ability effects by fifty percent when he partners another Familiar. He can release seventy percent of his power, assume a larger combat form, use a deathscythe, and create numerous shields, reaching the peak Centennial rank at that stage. The Dryad battle establishes the limit plainly: a Myriad Beast tears through those defenses and mutilates him despite his resolve. Familiar Fusion lets Conan merge with William and Elliot so their abilities strengthen William and his clones, but it does not make the group capable of casually defeating a Pseudo-God. Because Conan contains part of William's soul, final destruction also inflicts catastrophic spiritual backlash on his master. (Chapters 754, 926–928, and 1113)
