Chloee

Chloee is Celeste's Familiar, Claire's twin, and the close-combat specialist known as the Juggernaut of Hestia Academy. Although she first appears as a tiny blonde fairy with an appetite for food and fighting, she is a first-generation Familiar whose raw strength can break magical laws. She teaches William the practical foundations of the Familiamancer profession and becomes his Sixth Master.

Chloee is also her own person rather than an extension of Celeste. Her loyalty to her summoner remains profound, but she refuses to let Celeste decide whom she may love or which side she must take. Her relationship with William develops from teacher and student into mutual devotion, and her decision to risk her existence for him becomes one of the clearest expressions of her independent will.

Biography

The Juggernaut becomes a master

Chloee arrives with Celeste and Claire as an excitable Familiar who speaks before thinking and treats obstacles as invitations to punch them. Her first meeting with Celine establishes both her curiosity and her resemblance to a younger Celeste, while Claire repeatedly reins in her impulsiveness. When William asks to learn the Familiamancer profession without becoming Celeste's disciple, Claire proposes Chloee as his instructor. Chloee accepts after William challenges her to prove her strength, because she sincerely believes that fighting is one of the best ways to build a relationship. (Chapters 578 and 650–653)

Their spar reveals why the academy calls her its Juggernaut. Chloee turns William's opening thrust back on him, withstands his elemental weapons, and breaks his arm when their attacks meet. Once he makes her use seventy percent of her power, she recognizes him as her disciple and later teaches him what she knows about Familiars. Her instruction is practical and combative rather than scholarly, but it is effective: William leaves with an operational understanding of the profession and continues addressing her as his Sixth Master. Chloee subsequently works for Byron and Hestia Academy, tracking William into the Seventh Sanctum when he disappears and promising to find him without fail. (Chapters 654–662, 790, 838, and 922)

Choosing William and surviving sacrifice

Chloee's attachment to William eventually creates a conflict that Celeste cannot resolve for her. When Celeste asks whether she would kill William if he became the Prince of Darkness, Chloee rejects the forced choice between master and disciple. She says that if darkness bound William, she would use her own hands to break those chains rather than assume he had become irredeemably evil. Her answer acknowledges love without letting Celeste define it. She later follows William into the Demon Continent, protects his companions, and stays with him through the confrontation with Felix and Ahriman. (Chapters 984–1032 and 1058–1078)

During the retreat from the Holy Land of Darkness, Chloee releases one hundred percent of her power and fights beside Conan so William, Celeste, and the others can escape. She expects the act to kill her and explicitly tells William not to waste their sacrifice. Conan's loss leaves her barely alive and able to use only thirty percent of her strength for a time, but she survives. After William becomes the Prince of Darkness, Chloee takes a succubus form, joins his Familia, and accepts the love she had previously left unspoken. She continues helping him conquer dungeons and fight Felix's forces, later marries him, and remains part of his family after the final war. (Chapters 1081–1084, 1099–1134, 1193, 1252–1263, and 1324–1464)

Appearance and personality

In her ordinary Familiar form, Chloee is a small fairy with short blonde hair that curls at the ends, blue eyes, and wings. She resembles a much younger Celeste, while Claire resembles the same model with short green hair and gray eyes. Chloee can expand into a human-sized adolescent form for serious combat; the percentage of power she releases changes the apparent maturity of that form. After joining William, she is also described as a beautiful blonde succubus, and by the epilogue she can maintain the appearance of a woman in her late teens. (Chapters 578, 652, 655, 922, 1081, 1099, and 1464)

Chloee is energetic, blunt, gluttonous, and intensely competitive. She loves pancakes, chocolate, and the prospect of fighting a worthy opponent. Her limited patience and enthusiasm for violence routinely force Claire or Celeste to supervise her, but neither trait makes her foolishly disloyal. She can track a missing person through hostile territory, keep secrets when disclosure would endanger others, and accept mortal danger without hesitation. Her moral reasoning is also more flexible than Celeste expects: she resists simple labels and judges William by the battles and choices she has personally witnessed. (Chapters 650–655, 838, 984, 1013, and 1081)

Skills, classes, and divinities

  • Progenitor Familiar: Chloee and Claire are first-generation Familiars born from the Progenitor of the profession, making them far stronger than ordinary members of their kind. Chloee's Progenitor Instinct can move her body automatically to avoid harm, but its stated activation chance is only thirty percent. Her ordinary mana reserve is very small compared with her physical attributes. (Chapters 654–655 and 658)
  • Might Over Magic: Chloee can nullify laws, abilities, and magical constructs through brute strength and has substantial resistance to magic. This lets her damage William's law-built Bifrost Bridge and oppose attacks that should overwhelm a conventional fighter. The ability has a comic but real side effect: activation makes her curse the person who triggered it. It is not absolute; sufficiently powerful opponents and nonmagical force can still injure her. (Chapters 652, 654–655, and 922)
  • Juggernaut: When Chloee's health is at or below seventy percent, her strength doubles and cannot be reduced by spells or abilities. The increase makes injuring her more dangerous, but it does not restore health or solve her limited ability to manage large groups of comparable enemies. (Chapters 654–655)
  • Close-combat mastery: Her EX-ranked Combat, Unarmed, and Weapon Mastery support techniques including Duel-EX, World Ending Strike, Stunning Strike, and Overwhelming Strike. Duel-EX can pull a visible opponent into a forced exchange regardless of distance. Overwhelming Strike multiplies her strength twentyfold but can be used only three times per day. (Chapters 654–655)
  • Power release: Chloee can enlarge her body and release progressively more of her true strength. Seventy percent is enough to make William's Einherjar form take her seriously; one hundred percent lets her injure a Pseudo-God-level enemy. Full release burns through her existence and would have killed her without outside intervention, while her subsequent damaged state limits her to thirty percent and roughly Millennial-rank strength. (Chapters 655, 922, and 1081–1084)
  • Familiamancer knowledge and tracking: She teaches William how Familiars work, has extensive combat experience from academy missions, and can follow faint trails through dangerous terrain. These are learned competencies rather than an all-purpose appraisal ability. (Chapters 662 and 838)

Power progression

Stage / Realm / AbilityChapter(s)Notes
Progenitor Familiar / academy Juggernaut578, 650–655Begins as a first-generation Familiar with extreme physical attributes, law-breaking force, limited mana, and a conditional doubling of strength after injury.
Seventy-percent power release654–655Enlarges into a stronger form and forces William's Einherjar state to take her seriously; higher output remains a deliberate release rather than a new permanent rank.
Full release against Pseudo-God forces1081–1084Burns one hundred percent of her existence to injure a vastly stronger enemy and cover the retreat, expecting to die from the expenditure.
Damaged thirty-percent / Millennial-rank limit1084–1099Survives Conan's sacrifice but can initially access only thirty percent of her strength, making this a real temporary loss rather than cosmetic exhaustion.
Succubus Familia form and restored combat service1099–1263Joins William's Familia, assumes a succubus form, and resumes dungeon and battlefield operations; the corpus does not give a precise chapter for full recovery of every prior percentage.

Relationships

  • William: William begins as Chloee's disciple and calls her his Sixth Master. Shared battles turn affection into love, and she chooses to save him even when doing so appears certain to erase her existence. She later joins his Familia, becomes his lover, and marries him. (Chapters 653–662, 922–984, 1081–1134, and 1464)
  • Celeste: Celeste is Chloee's summoner and longstanding companion. Chloee cannot lie to her and remains deeply loyal, but she insists on making her own decisions when Celeste demands that she choose between Celeste and William. (Chapters 578, 652–662, 984, and 1081–1082)
  • Claire: Claire is Chloee's twin and temperamental opposite. Claire supplies restraint and analysis while Chloee supplies direct action; beneath their teasing and disagreements, each places the other's safety above her own convenience. (Chapters 578, 650–662, 1013, 1213, and 1464)
  • Elliot and Conan: Chloee works with William's Familiars and fights Elliot when their plans for protecting William clash. Elliot later confesses to her and is rejected because she has chosen William. Conan fights beside her at full release and sacrifices himself during their last stand, enabling her survival. (Chapters 1010–1013, 1031, 1081–1084, and 1404)
  • Byron: As Hestia Academy's headmaster, Byron sends Chloee to find William in the Seventh Sanctum. She reports to him through communication jewels and follows the mission into forbidden territory. (Chapters 790, 838, and 949)

Items

  • Communication jewels: Chloee carries colored jewels for reporting to Byron and tracking William's party. They provide direction and communication, not certainty; she still has to interpret physical traces and cross dangerous terrain herself. (Chapter 838)
  • Storage ring: She uses a storage ring to carry her communication tools, food, and other supplies while traveling. (Chapters 838 and 950)
  • Group Teleport Scroll: Celeste's group holds a scroll capable of evacuating one hundred people. Its fixed capacity makes it inadequate for William's army of thousands during the retreat from the Holy Land of Darkness. (Chapter 1078)
