Saleos

Saleos, also called Eccentric Duke Saleos, is the nineteenth Great Demon and a close-range combatant defined by overwhelming physical power. He treats battle as a contest he is destined to win, but his regeneration and strength are overcome when Kraugel and Grid combine abilities capable of cutting or returning that power. Biography

Recurring role and later consequences

Saleos enters the battlefield only after other enemies have weakened his targets. He speaks little, declares that victory in any contest belongs to him, and crushes opponents with direct blows that leave no opening for an ordinary counterattack. Even after Kraugel cuts him in half, Saleos instantly restores his vessel and blood vessels, interpreting the Sword Saint's resistance through the legendary reputation inherited from Muller. Kraugel's evolving swordsmanship confuses Saleos's senses and proves capable of cutting away his power, while Grid joins the fight with Revolve, a counter that can return an attack's own force. Saleos becomes harder to damage as his condition declines, but the players coordinate their remaining attacks and defeat him. Grid later invokes Saleos's Power as a brief surge of strength formidable enough to contest opponents such as Baal and Mir, preserving the demon's defining ability after his fall. Saleos has a largely human form, but his arrival creates instinctive terror appropriate to a Great Demon.
