Royman

Royman, whose real name is Karin, is an Overgeared knight who begins as an ordinary Reidan soldier. Her exceptional motivation and regional talent attract Asmophel, Piaro, and Grid, turning her into one of the kingdom's strongest young knights. She fights under a male pseudonym, becomes known as the Western Nova, commands soldiers, and later serves as a chief knight and instructor in the royal palace. (Chapters 331, 333, 727, 838, 866, 993, 1391, 1441, and 1482)

Biography

Recurring role and later consequences

Grid first notices Royman because her growth rate stands apart from every other soldier on the roster. Piaro explains that she receives the same instruction as the others but approaches it with unusual talent and motivation, actively adapting training rather than merely completing it. Grid asks that she receive additional development, and Piaro places her at the center of a special group. The attention is causal rather than ceremonial: Royman's own response to routine work creates the opportunity, while her commanders recognize that disciplined investment in an ordinary soldier can produce a future pillar. (Chapter 331)

An inspection reveals that Royman is the pseudonym Karin adopted while presenting herself as male. She insists that becoming a knight and good man at Grid's side is her dream, and Grid respects the secret rather than forcing a public disclosure. He gives her a superior Grid battle set, which immediately increases her effectiveness and prompts Piaro to intensify her already punishing schedule. Her early training combines mountain runs, field labor, and live danger. Against Hurent, she learns that admiration must not replace reflexive defense and that Piaro will protect her life while demanding more work afterward. (Chapters 333 and 335–336)

Asmophel first discovers Royman's potential, while Piaro's direct instruction converts it into knighthood. Within a few years she is among Overgeared's stronger knights and carries the Western Nova designation, yet she responds to superior East Continent soldiers by training harder rather than treating her named status as completion. Her colleagues eventually understand that she is a woman and quietly accommodate the disguise, although Royman believes it remains secret. The arrangement lets her chosen identity persist without making it the sole explanation for her advancement. (Chapter 727)

Royman develops from protected trainee into field commander. During the annual kapen-skunk threat, she positions archers, anchors the front with shield troops, and exploits terrain shaped by farming practice to eliminate the monsters without repeating Eternal's historic losses. During the attack on the royal family, her distinctive swordsmanship repeatedly freezes or knocks down Silvenas, and she uses Farmland Walk to try to save a wounded colleague despite knowing he can revive. These scenes join Piaro's unconventional training to practical leadership, control effects, and concern for fellow defenders. (Chapters 838 and 866)

Her later service is institutional rather than confined to battle. Royman delivers diplomatic and security reports, cautions that detained suspects lack clear evidence, and becomes chief knight and one of Queen Irene's sword instructors. When she encounters an isolated guest in the palace, she treats him with quiet hospitality before immediately mobilizing knights and assassins at the sign of an unknown shockwave near Grid's smithy. The latest scene presents a restrained, experienced officer whose vigilance and judgment have caught up with the promise first seen in Reidan's soldier lists. (Chapters 993, 1391, 1441, and 1482)

Appearance and personality

Royman is a young, attractive woman with rough skin, short hair, thick lips, and long eyelashes. She dresses as a man, binds her body, and originally uses the name Royman to conceal that her real name is Karin. By her latest appearance she still wears male clothing to hide her looks, but her red epaulettes, controlled demeanor, and deep eyes make her accumulated experience visible despite her youth. (Chapters 333, 727, and 1482)

She is hardworking, earnest, loyal, and protective. Royman can be naïve—she initially freezes in admiration before a dangerous aura attack and assumes her disguise remains intact long after her colleagues understand it—but she does not remain passive. She embraces punishing instruction, responds to stronger peers by increasing her effort, worries about comrades, and tempers security work with procedural caution. Her friendliness toward a lonely guest coexists with an instant response to danger. (Chapters 331, 335–336, 727, 866, 1391, and 1482)

Abilities, classes, and skills

Royman's New Star of the West title accelerates her level and ability growth and grants an especially large increase to all stats in desert terrain. As a named NPC, she lacks an ordinary fixed stat ceiling, giving Grid reason to expect continued development. Piaro's farming-based instruction builds strength, reflexes, and terrain awareness, while Farmland Walk provides a short spatial leap. Her later swordsmanship applies repeated freezing and knockdown effects, making her valuable for constraining stronger targets rather than relying on raw damage alone. (Chapters 333, 727, 838, and 866)

Her limits are visible throughout her progression. Early Royman cannot properly react to Hurent and survives because Piaro intervenes. Even after becoming a leading knight, she remains below the high baseline of the Red Phoenix Group and describes her own talent as small beside Grid's when teaching Irene. These comparisons do not negate growth: she advances from soldier to commander and chief knight, coordinates formations, blocks airborne sword energy, and leads a rapid palace response. The latest chapters document mature readiness rather than a new class transformation. (Chapters 335–336, 727, 838, 866, 1441, and 1482)

Relationships

Piaro is Royman's principal instructor. He sees her potential, protects her during early battles, and responds to every weakness with more farming or physical training. His inability to recognize her disguise creates comic misunderstandings, but his confidence that she will become a strength for Grid is fulfilled through her command and swordsmanship. (Chapters 331, 333, 335–336, and 727)

Asmophel identifies Royman while she is still an ordinary Reidan soldier and trains her alongside Piaro. His eye for overlooked talent initiates the promotion path that makes her a knight, while their later intensive instruction prepares her for chief-knight duties. (Chapters 331, 727, 1391, and 1441)

Grid notices Royman's unusual growth, protects her private identity, equips her, and maintains high expectations for her unrestricted potential. Royman answers that support through service to his army and household, ultimately rushing toward danger near his smithy as the palace's senior knight. (Chapters 331, 333, 727, 1441, and 1482)

Lord fights alongside Royman during the defense against Silvenas. His sword technique creates the opening for Overgeared's knights, while Royman uses her control-oriented swordsmanship and movement skill to support the defense of the royal family. (Chapter 866)

Items

  • Grid battle set: Grid gives Royman a uniquely rated set of gray steel-and-black-iron battle gear. Its immediate improvement to her combat ability also causes Piaro to multiply the intensity of her training. (Chapter 333)
