Overgeared Skeleton Two

Overgeared Skeleton Two is one of Grid's unusual summoned undead. Initially too fragile for the combat role Grid imagines, it develops classes from its own habits: repeatedly repairing damage caused by its sibling makes it a Skeleton Restorer, while dancing and smithing later become part of its advancement. Its union with Galgunos's remains ultimately transforms it into a lich able to distort space, command temple undead, and serve far from Grid. (Chapters 513, 810, 821, 986, 1452–1454, 1456, 1472, 1502, and 1532)

Biography

Recurring role and later consequences

Overgeared Skeleton Two begins with the same poor statistics and brittle bones as Overgeared Skeleton One, frustrating Grid's hope of assigning the pair distinct combat roles. Life beside its aggressive sibling nevertheless creates its own path. After repeatedly suffering broken bones and studying mana to repair them, it chooses Skeleton Restorer at its first advancement rather than the lich class Grid expected. The choice establishes that its development follows accumulated conduct rather than its summoner's plan, and gives it the means to restore both health and shattered body parts. (Chapters 513, 810, and 821)

At its next advancement, Grid and Braham deliberately preserve that emergent identity. Overgeared Skeleton Two becomes a Restorer Skeleton Dancing Smith, combining restoration, dance, magic, and blacksmithing instead of committing to a conventional combat class. It gains a golden, childlike skeletal form and can manufacture bone equipment, although its restoration property may undo a work in progress and force it to begin again. Its dancing also develops battlefield value as a broad provocation, turning behavior that looks comic into a method of controlling enemy attention. (Chapter 986)

The decisive transformation begins when Grid gives it Galgunos's modified bones and core. Galgunos attempts to seize the new body, but Grid and Euphemina overpower him and use Granting an Ego to restore Skeleton Two's control. The completed fourth advancement makes it the Dancing Lich Who Distorts Space, gives it access to Galgunos's magic and memories, and lets it dominate the undead of Galgunos Temple. It afterward operates thousands of kilometers from Grid, accepts responsibility for Siren's forces, and uses spatial displacement and summoned soldiers to obstruct the great demon Beleth during the war. By the time its sibling completes a comparable transformation, Skeleton Two has advanced further through that independent service and retains enough freedom to leave and enter Latina's Necklace on its own. (Chapters 1452–1454, 1456, 1472, 1502, and 1532)

Appearance and personality

Before becoming a lich, Overgeared Skeleton Two is a small golden skeleton with an oversized skull and crescent-shaped eyes that give it an expressive, mischievous face. Its movements, laughter, and dancing make it seem unusually lively, and Mercedes recognizes empathy approaching that of a living creature. After absorbing Galgunos's remains, its body becomes tall and well proportioned, with sturdy white bones, a cloak of black magic, glowing red eyes, and a deep voice; its love of dancing survives the imposing change. (Chapters 810, 821, 986, 1452–1454, and 1456)

It is clever, loyal, playful, and capable of both compassion and resentment. It gives rest to exhausted child skeleton soldiers and formally promises to repay Grid's expectations, but it also uses its new strength to break and restore Skeleton One repeatedly in revenge for years of bullying. Even after learning human speech, it sometimes returns to jaw-clacking and dance specifically to taunt its sibling. (Chapters 1456, 1472, and 1532)

Abilities, classes, and skills

Skeleton Two's foundational ability is restoration. Bone Sticking repairs broken skeletal parts and recovers a portion of its health, with a thirty-second cooldown when first documented. The skill grows alongside the Skeleton Restorer class, and its later smith advancement applies restoration to crafted bone equipment. That interaction is not entirely beneficial: automatic restoration can reverse manufacturing changes, illustrating how its several behavior-derived class features can interfere with one another as well as combine. (Chapters 821 and 986)

As a Restorer Skeleton Dancing Smith, it gains high intelligence and stamina, Intermediate Magic Mastery, bone blacksmithing, and a dance that provokes enemies over a wide area. Its physical strength and agility remain comparatively poor, so its utility comes from repair, spellcasting, distraction, and production rather than direct weapon exchanges. It later continues assisting at Grid's forge and working the bellows, even after lich transformation gives it far greater combat power. (Chapters 986 and 1532)

The Dancing Lich Who Distorts Space possesses unlimited mana and protects its otherwise modest stamina through Mana Shield. Galgunos's engraved formulas let it generate catalysts, use Spatial Distortion after a short cast, and engrave multiple magic formulas for later use. The class grants magic of many attributes, with particular strength in dark and spatial magic. Spatial Distortion can continually relocate itself or incoming threats, but its operation depends on generated catalysts and does not make it stronger than every opponent; against Beleth, evasion and disruption are more important than direct superiority. (Chapters 1453–1454 and 1502)

It also controls Galgunos's ego through the core, reads the lich's memories, summons skeleton soldiers, and inherits authority over the undead of Galgunos Temple. The temple myth increases its domination and necromantic effectiveness there, eliminates the ordinary domination cost for the temple's undead, and places a death knight, warriors, and magicians under its command. Its lich state further allows independent operation until its health reaches zero or Grid reverses the summoning. (Chapters 1454, 1456, and 1472)

Relationships

  • Grid: Grid is Skeleton Two's summoner, blacksmithing master, and the person who repeatedly adapts his plans to the undead's self-directed growth. He protects Skeleton Two from Galgunos's possession and later trusts it with independent military service. (Chapters 513, 821, 986, 1452–1454, and 1472)
  • Overgeared Skeleton One: Its sibling is both companion and tormentor. Years of being broken by Skeleton One produce Skeleton Two's restoration class; after becoming a lich, Skeleton Two reverses their old power dynamic and gleefully subjects its sibling to cycles of destruction and repair. (Chapters 810, 821, 1456, and 1532)
  • Mercedes: Mercedes identifies the skeletons' near-living empathy and teaches them Vaintz Swordsmanship. Her response validates qualities that Grid initially overlooks when judging them mainly by statistics. (Chapter 810)
  • Braham: Braham helps Grid choose Skeleton Two's second advancement and recognizes tactical value in its dance-based provocation. His judgment helps consolidate the skeleton's strange mixture of restoration, smithing, magic, and performance. (Chapter 986)
  • Euphemina: Euphemina supplies Galgunos's remains and fights the lich after its concealed ego takes Skeleton Two's body. Her magical interference helps create the opening through which Grid can return control to the skeleton. (Chapters 1452–1453)
  • Galgunos: Galgunos's bones, core, formulas, and memories enable Skeleton Two's lich transformation, but he tries to possess the body rather than cooperate. Skeleton Two ultimately controls the surviving ego and can threaten the core that contains it. (Chapters 1452–1454 and 1456)
