Dokgak

Dokgak is a talented dokkaebi responsible for a major Japanese channel and a recurring rival to Bihyung and Kim Dokja.

Biography

The rival above Bihyung

Dokgak is initially a standard against which Kim Dokja measures Bihyung's ambition. He is already a successful broadcaster when Kim Dokja promises to help Bihyung surpass him. This makes their conflict professional before it becomes personal: Dokgak represents the audience scale and Bureau recognition Bihyung lacks, while Dokja's confidence turns an established host into a target before they meet directly. (Chapter 12)

Probability as a weapon

During the early inter-channel conflict, Dokgak reports Kim Dokja and Bihyung to the Bureau for a probability judgment. He uses administrative rules to attack a channel whose popularity threatens his own, then loses control when Kim Dokja turns the hearing into a call for viewers. The humiliation gives Dokgak a durable grudge. (Chapters 88–108)

Revenge in the Demon Realm

Dokgak later interferes when Kim Dokja returns to broadcasting. Now recognized as exceptionally talented at channel management, he constructs a scenario intended to expose or destroy his rival. His control falters when Uriel's rage exceeds the entertainment he planned, forcing him to appear and plead for the scenario to continue. (Chapters 255–280)

Commentator at Gigantomachia

By Gigantomachia, Dokgak is still working as a broadcaster. He explains the party's “sacred torch relay” to other dokkaebis, showing genuine fluency in turning unfamiliar action into an audience-facing story. His rivalry never makes him incompetent; it makes his talent serve a narrower, more resentful goal than Bihyung's partnership with Kim Dokja. (Chapters 328–338)

Appearance and personality

Dokgak floats above his scenarios with a cunning face and smiles while his eyes retain the resentment of earlier humiliation. He reports Kim Dokja for a probability judgment rather than challenging him directly, then becomes tearful and flushed when the audience turns against that plan. In the Demon Realm he again begins from a safe position in the air, only to emerge red-faced and plead for calm when Uriel exceeds his script. (Chapters 91–93 and 257–272)

Abilities, attributes, and stories

Channel management

Dokgak designs scenarios, manages broadcasts, interprets spectacle for viewers, and attracts constellation attention. His skill is explicitly regarded as outstanding. It cannot guarantee a desired outcome when participants possess enough status to violate his script. (Chapters 88–108 and 255–280)

Bureau procedure

He can request probability judgments and invoke administrative intervention. These powers depend on Bureau rules; Kim Dokja can defeat them by creating a story and audience response the Bureau must also recognize. (Chapters 91–93)
