Sang Munyo

Sang Munyo is a Demonic Academy instructor whose repeated tests of Chun Yeowun demonstrate how quickly the cadet outgrows ordinary academy standards.

Biography

The Yellow-Tag Duel

Sang Munyo instructs the Academy's first group and favors Chun Muyeon or Chun Yuchan for the succession. He volunteers to oppose Chun Yeowun during the yellow-tag challenges, expecting the supposedly fortunate cadet to fail against a real Master-level instructor. (Chapter 42)

Munyo begins with only part of his energy and allows Yeowun the first attack. The unexpected force pushes him back, embarrasses him before the Academy, and turns the evaluation into a personal contest. He responds with the Seven Demon Sword and all of his internal energy, but Yeowun survives the pressure and breaks Munyo's right rib cage through his defensive barrier. The instructor spends three weeks in the medical room. (Chapter 43)

Revenge Disguised as the Fourth Test

Munyo blames the loss on the test restriction that forced him to use the Seven Demon Sword instead of his personal blade art. After recovery, he draws Yeowun to an isolated area and declares that the cadet has challenged him for the fourth test, then attacks the neck without warning. His goal is not a fair assessment; he intends to disable Yeowun and report the encounter after the victim can no longer contradict him. (Chapters 97–98)

Yeowun now matches or exceeds Munyo's internal energy and can form blade qi as an established Master. The sixth Butterfly Blade Dance formation knocks Munyo's weapon away and tears his palm. Munyo yields, then gathers energy in both hands for another surprise attack as Yeowun withdraws. Nano detects the concentration, and Yeowun crushes the ribs that had only just healed before carrying him to the chief's office. (Chapters 98–99)

Institutional Consequence

Because Munyo himself called the encounter a fourth-test challenge, his defeat legally advances Yeowun. The Academy instructors regard his revenge attempt as foolish and note that attacking a cadet outside procedure could have cost him his post. Yeowun receives the test privileges and enters closed-room training while Munyo returns to medical care. (Chapters 99–110)

Appearance and personality

No stable physical description is supplied. Munyo is ambitious, partisan, and intensely concerned with public honor. He interprets an evaluation loss as humiliation rather than evidence to revise his judgment, then escalates from instructor bias to a planned ambush.

He does retain survival instinct. Once Yeowun's blade reaches his face, Munyo yields rather than insist on a fatal exchange; his error is trying to reverse that surrender through another concealed strike.

Master-Level Internal Energy

Munyo is a Master-level martial artist who can reinforce his body with an internal-energy barrier and drive full power through a weapon clash. In the first duel, seventy percent of his energy stops Yeowun's opening only after pushing him several steps, and his complete output initially forces the cadet back. (Chapter 43)

His barrier reduces but does not stop concentrated physical force; Yeowun's hand strike still destroys the ribs beneath it. Weeks later, Munyo discovers that Yeowun's energy has risen to at least his own level, making direct pressure ineffective. (Chapters 43, 98)

Seven Demon Sword

Under yellow-tag rules, Munyo uses the fourth, sixth, and seventh movements of the Seven Demon Sword. The linked movements create enough sword and internal-energy pressure to damage a Master-level opponent, and Munyo expects the seventh to win by force even after earlier movements are read. (Chapter 43)

The art is not his specialty. Yeowun counters its known structure, survives the energy exchange, and exploits Munyo's panic. Munyo later argues that his personal blade skill is superior, which explains his confidence but not the failure to adapt during the test. (Chapters 43, 98)

Personal Blade Art

Munyo's own blade technique divides the visible attack into two descending lines and carries white blade qi. It is faster and more familiar to him than the Academy sword, but slower than the Butterfly Blade Dance. Yeowun's second formation blocks it, and the sixth formation then disarms him. (Chapters 98–99)

The defeat establishes the technique's limit against an equal-energy opponent with a faster formation. Munyo has no demonstrated answer once his palm is torn and his weapon leaves his hand. (Chapter 99)
